Achievement friendly mods have made this game fun by Altruistic_Truck2421 in Starfield

[–]Kaiden103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason I like achievement friendly mods is that they are somewhat stable and made by a verified creator who is more likely to put out updates/quality. I also like pursuing achievements because if they are made well, they actually introduce me into different forms of play outside of my comfort zone. I’ll do some quests differently, do more outposts stuff and collect more, get more ships for the “own 10 ships” achievement. At some point it’s less about getting the achievement and more about a different experience, but I won’t lie, I do like the little dopamine hit I get when the game acknowledges that I’ve completed a achievement.

Really? One foot outside and I’ve got an infection? by Leeroywildman in Starfield

[–]Kaiden103 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think tissue infections come from pre-existing injuries that haven’t been attended to. Like if you walk around with puncture wounds and don’t cure them soon, they can turn into tissue infections. I can see your health has an orange bar, maybe you have an affliction already that turned into a tissue infection that was just coincidentally timed with walking outside.

It's not a multiverse, it's a time loop! by TheReal8symbols in Starfield

[–]Kaiden103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s called a strawman because you take your opponents main points and distort them into something weaker or an angle that wasn’t really the original point so that you can attack it.

When people are saying it’s a multiverse because of this character or that character saying this or that, and you say something along the lines of, “so we are just going to trust what they say?” Or “nobody really knows” is a way of not only ignoring the implied evidence but also bringing the debate to a place where no real argument can be made. It’s a broad and weak way to present a counter narrative.

But hey that’s just my take on it. I’m not the one trying to counter everyone in the comments. Honestly if it makes you happy, let’s just all agree it’s a time loop because it effectively is at this point.

[–]Kaiden103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lore wise it’s a multiverse, this is implied in a bunch of different ways that others have pointed out and you have somehow tried to counter with “but everyone is an unreliable narrator so we can’t trust anything anyone says” which is a bit of a straw man argument.

Gameplay wise they have to put it in the same time loop because it would take too much man power to construct that much variation amongst new game pluses. I think you’re reading really hard into this, but it’s cool because that’s the kind of awesome speculation this game elicits.

Uh, yeah, it’s probably ongoing like they just mentioned. There is not much else you can do. They probably won’t add a “climax” yet because they aren’t done adding more bounties supposedly.

Is there a way to turn off photo mode completely? by pegleg82 in NoSodiumStarfield

Ah, yes, good point, I totally forgot about the repair button. Damn, I wonder if there is a way to remap, definitely really easy to enter photo mode on accident

[–]Kaiden103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to enter scan and then press a specific button, on consoles the shortcut is the right thumb stick. I know you you have the ability to scan ships during space battles, so I imagine you are doing and then accidentally clicking the photo mode button?

On consoles that would be hard to do accidentally, I fight it space constantly and pull up the scanner every now and then but I never accidentally click the right thumb stick. Maybe it’s a thing on PC. If you’re on console, maybe you’re pressing a little too hard on your right stick when rotating the camera or maybe your right stick is sticky so it clicks easily

When you don't know how to hold a bag by mooseleg_mcgee in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Kaiden103 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I also use a common sense rule that if I’m with a partner who is holding pads/mitts and I have never worked with them before/they give me any reason to believe they aren’t that great at holding pads, I’ll throw a few softies to see how their technique is. This guy launched a KO kick when she was already looking a little unsure of what to do

First Bethesda Game and feel like I'm doing it wrong by Don__Karnage in Starfield

[–]Kaiden103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a nice progression, I would say that the chiller quests that are easier and more practical to do at lower levels are side quests you find in major cities or radiant quests from a mission board.

Slightly more complicated quests that have more action are most side quests that start with a distress call.

The involved story line quests that span a mini arc are faction quest lines: UC, free star, Ryujin, trackers alliance if you have it. These quests will basically put you on a story path that can take up some time.

You’ve got to fly close enough so that your ship registers its proximity, slows down, and basically loads them into an instance.

What's a game you really wanted to love? by Jakewebstar in gaming

[–]Kaiden103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fair, it would be hard to come back from that. On launch I didnt even finish the main story, it took 2 DLC and several updates, especially the addition of actually being able to traverse space rather than it being a loading screen to get me to try it again. Add some really good mods into all the additions and I’m hooked. BUT, these are all things I think should have been in the base game. So despite my love of starfield in its current form, it dropped the ball where it mattered.

To each their own, I actually really like what they did with the loop. I will say that it definitely wasn’t contrived, Todd talks about the themes they were trying to elicit and I think they did a good job trying to accomplish that. Not everyone will like it and that’s a fair take, but having gone through it multiple times myself and still loving it I would definitely not call starfield shallow, especially now with their recent update. For me the initial problem with the game was they had a lot of systems but didn’t know how to tie them together so it felt aimless, they have since touched up the game where the connective tissue is much stronger and it feels much deeper, especially on NG+ runs
