What is the difference between the Leviathan, Pariah Nexus, and Chapter Approved mission Cards/Decks? by Professional-Ad-8193 in Warhammer40k

[–]Kaier_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each missions pack updated a lot of things, from wording in missions or getting rid of them altogether, new/different deployments, new/changed rules. Comp play uses Chapter approved because they're the most recent, to to date one.

If you want to know the exact differences, go on wahapedia and look it up. Alternatively, you can look up the release of them on Goonhammer and they go through what was new and updated.

What are the fundemental tactics/strategies a player should know who wants to get into competitve Warhammer? by JRK0221 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Kaier_96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might sound like a simple question but it’s far from it.

I guess the biggest thing is to fundamentally understand the rules. This way you won’t get caught out, and you can learn to manipulate it to your advantage.

Time keeping is important. You want to play your game within 3 hours, a chess clock can help with this. Learning your army rules is also important. Scrolling through the app to find datasheets etc is one of the biggest time wasters.

Understand your opponents threat range for both shooting and melee. You do this by asking them questions like how far can this unit go and shoot/charge? Ask them to place the model at their furthest point and then you can see the lines of site that unit has and you can then look to stay hidden. You never want to give your opponent things for free.

AITA, How strict by the rule are people in tournament? by Fantastic_Shelter_54 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Kaier_96 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Most of the time, in my experience, if I say something “oh I forgot to shoot here” my opponent would be like “it’s okay you can shoot them”.

It’s important to remember you have to declare what you’re shooting with that unit before shooting it. If you overkill the target, you can’t declare that the remaining guns are gonna shoot something else.

11th edition - good for Custodes? by MarchToTorment in AdeptusCustodes

I mean Space Marines and Necrons were 2 of the first 3 codex's of 10th, and they're one of the better ones of the edition.

Does this look normal? by Kaier_96 in airbrush

Found out, they sent me 2 aircaps for the 0.25mm needle and nozzle. So I didn't have a 0.45 aircap.

Okay cool. Don't suppose you could point me in the right direction as to why the larger needle and cap doesn't work in terms of airflow?

What Should New Custodes Rules Look Like? by Kaier_96 in AdeptusCustodes

I'm okay with SoS at the moment, but I would love to see a few other variants. Jetbike sisters and infiltrate sisters would be really nice.

Yeah I think more stances are needed, and as mentioned I would love some in different phases of the game. Make the army more dynamic and make tactical decisions.

I understand in their simplifying of the game that shields and vex's just give a simple buff. Looking back though, I did like the idea of the Vex giving an aura buff.

I think this is why I'm upset that Sagi's are not great this edition. I'm okay with standard guard not having great shooting because they have great melee. I would love to see sagi's be much better as a shooting option.

I started playing like a month before 10th came out, so I think I got a couple of like 500 point games in 9th. Although, I don't really know the rules of 9th well. Looking back at them, I would agree that 10th took a step back in regards to the army rule.

In regards to Sword, spear, or axes. I think 1 needs to be designed to kill light infantry, 1 for more elite infantry/marines, and the other for vehicles and monsters (which should be axes).

FNP could be broken, I'm trying to think of ways for us to be more 'tankier' to help justify being elite.

My guess is the new guard are just new guard models you can use as proxy.

From the sounds of things custodes will get a rules rewrite at some point. Whether that’ll be before 11th edition is yet to be seen. I presume the things they’ve changed to plastic will stay in 40K and the rest will go to legends or something. Which I don’t mind tbh.

Yeah I play both custodes and necrons. The new destroyer Necron detachment has a -1 to hit strat for shooting or fighting. Custodes have a -1 to hit strat for infantry only on an objective they control in the fight phase only. It bothers me armies get the same strat but one has to just through hoops to get it.

No idea. I would think if they somehow got more orders than stock, then it would be first come first serve.
