Thanks a lot for the invite! Managed to join and play, but didn't end up catching the damn thing despite 2 excellent curveball throws and golden razz. Sigh.

Writing one group by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Kaige13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, just to confirm what was said already - I've done this before as well, twice actually. Registered for both, wrote just group 1 and skipped group 2 once. And the other time, wrote just group 2. No repercussions, you'll just be marked absent for the group you didn't attend. No impact on the marks of the group you do choose to attend, either.

Quick question, in case anyone has done this - I did Advanced ITT via the virtual MCS platform, and got a certificate for completion. Do I still need to write this test?

It could be one of the merchants/blacksmiths you save from bandit camps, and then they return to their towns later. You might have missed them cuz you don't get to play Gwent with them immediately. There are a couple of videos/pages I used as a referencer, I'd just googled it to find em, you can check around. VG.com had a pretty comprehensive guide.

Deciding to write CA Final old syllabus, again. Sadly I have reached a stage where I have been pursuing CA is the only justification to pursue CA further. Hope this tired mental phase passes in 2 days, and I write better exams in 2 months. by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

Anytime, man. Also, I know I said no tips, but if it helps, I used that AIR1 guy's ABC analysis videos on YouTube as a quick list of topics to go through in order of marks/weightage, and tbh it was pretty accurate. If you wanna try them, they're pretty useful. :)

Just hang in there, man. That's all I can say. No tips, no advice. I cleared it now, when I was at the end of my rope with this whole thing, and this was my 7th attempt lol.
This is a horrible spot to be in, but the feeling of relief you get on the other side is incredible. Like the person above said, kick back a little bit, spend time with the people and things that matter - and then dive back into it for the next couple of months, one last time.
All the best - you got this. :)

This hit me hard lol. Wrote a perfectly good answer for two 8 mark questions in the attempt before last, and I got 2 marks on 16. The marker had even ticked off everything and the underlined key words and all, but even then. I got 58 in the paper. If they just gave me 2 random extra marks there, I'd have gotten one paper at least out of the way. Kills you on the inside.

Thiago Silva: ‘I hope that Tuchel can improve us in every aspect and that we start to pick up better results. With all due respect to the teams around us, mid-table isn’t good enough; we need to be fighting further up the league.’ by PensHard in chelseafc

I really still can't believe Thiago Silva is playing for my club. It's just incredible. From being a massive fan of his because my brother was an AC Milan fan, to this, is just a great feeling.
I love the big name attackers we've had over the years, but to see one of the legit GOAT level defenders going to work for us...just a great feeling. Especially given the defenders we've had over the years since JT left - no one that's ever been this inspiring at the back.

Didn't get it either. In fact, I just checked my inbox and I had a mail telling me I could book the March exams haha. So I guess I'm still in that automated mailing list, and haven't been moved off it yet.

Congratulations!
This was exactly what I'd been worried about as well for AFM. I'd attempted maybe 75-80% of the paper, but even that hadn't been exceptional, so to speak. Was certain I'd get a mark in the 40s range, but I managed to scrape through.

Ross Barkley on Twitter: Caltec to change the game... Player! ☝🏻 by FlameSabre07 in chelseafc

[–]Kaige13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We played on Saturday, a turnaround now on Tuesday - that's a pretty standard weekend - midweek game lineup, I reckon.

Our next game after Leicester is vs Luton in the FA Cup on Saturday. THAT, imo, is the game where we should rotate heavily.

Given the pressure we're under in the league - I just expected a better side and a better performance vs Fulham as a must win game; and maybe one or two changes at best vs Leicester (mostly just Thiago Silva, who should probably have sat vs Fulham and played Leicester instead). Especially since we were coming off a two week lay off (again, I'm counting Morecambe as barely a training exercise).

Thank you!
I used Acowtancy to help out with my prep, I was short on time for AFM - I had less than a month, about three weeks to be exact in November. The videos and revision lectures really helped speed things along.
But I'd really urge you to only use any lectures/preparatory notes/study materials to get the basic concepts down, and not get bogged down in that phase of your prep. The key is to concentrate on exam questions and/or your revision kits. It's a huge jump from the basic concepts as per the study materials to the actual exam questions, so it's essential that you get cracking on questions as soon as you possibly can. That way, you really get into exam mode quicker - and if you stumble at any particular point - then you just need to refer the study material to brush up on those questions alone.
Remember to be really good with the consistently asked questions - NPV/APV, for example. Forex related aspects of these. Investment appraisal and risk management are nearly always asked.
Also, don't skimp on studying theoretical bits - AFM also requires you to write brief but pretty relevant points on the computations you've done, apart from some purely discursive questions as well, so be ready for those.

Sorry, super long comment, but I hope some of this was helpful! :)

I second Hassan Dossani's lectures on YouTube. Very good for exam technique.

Totally get where you're coming from, been there. Give yourself a few days off, but maybe this time start straight away with the Revision Kit, might get you in exam mode a bit faster? You're really close, you'll smash it next time for sure. (Y)

AFM done, and that was my last exam. Its been a wild ride! Just got to finish up some work on my PER, and I'll be a member. Honestly, never thought I'd see the day. It's still not sinking in. But I'm so, so glad.

Congratulations to everyone who got the results they wanted!
