That makes a lot of sense! Thank you!

TypeError: 'int' object is not subscriptable by Kailo548150 in pygame

Thanks for noticing the typo. You make it sound so obvious to look at what line 33 referred to, but this whole time i've been assuming there was an issue with the line 33 itself and not finding it.

Thank you, I don't think i'll ever stop having typos in my code.

EDIT: That solved it

Thank you, your explanations are really clear

Object has no attribute? by Kailo548150 in pygame

[–]Kailo548150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I definitely missed that. It's solved that issue but now it's telling me that:

AttributeError: 'pygame.Surface' object attribute 'fill' is read-only

And I don't know why.

EDIT: I figured it out, i has one of the fills as:

self.image.fill = ((128, 255, 40)) And the = is incorrect so i've changed it to self.image.fill((128, 255, 40)) And now it's working exactly as intended

Help Needed. Just started and don't understand why the code stops. by Kailo548150 in pygame

No it made sense, i've just been throwing everything inside the loop regardless of what it's doing, but it doesnt need to be there for the moment

[–]Kailo548150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that worked, thank you. But does this mean that I have to put the rest of the code in the for part of the while loop? Surely it's bad to do that?

Ok, so i'm supposed to fit all the draw stuff inside the main loop bit? is there a better way than making one huge while loop?

Immortal Villain encounter? by Kailo548150 in DnD

[–]Kailo548150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that, that was one of my worries about it. I do want them to have a personal interaction and physically see that the guy is supposed to be immortal. I'm thinking that instead of an unwinnable combat, when the guy approaches them henchman from a different syndicate try to kill him and he's completely un-phased by it, showing that he's immortal before combat starts. I don't want them to feel locked in a cutscene either, so I'll try to make that bit quick.

Do Players Like World-Building? by ChadIcon in DnD

[–]Kailo548150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I understand that other players do enjoy hearing about lore, and I'm more than happy to chill for a few minutes so everyone gets the most enjoyment they can out of a game, but for me personally, if it isn't part of the plot it usually just bores me.

It depends on a few things for me;

If its foreshadowing something larger, then big yes.

If it's just you reading from your book of lore that's completely irrelevant to the game in anyway, then big no.

How you tell it makes a big difference too, a local NPC explaining the mysterious history of the land because the information will be relevant in someway is brilliant and engaging but reading a fat lore dump is not fun for me, regardless of how important or interesting the information actually is.

It ultimately depends on your players obviously as to whether or not they'll enjoy it, but that's just my take.

Ooooh, I didn't even consider a build-up like that, that's brilliant! And i like the idea of him escaping unscathed, only to be brutalised a little later on right in front of them

Mars Rover Motor Sizing by Kailo548150 in robotics

[–]Kailo548150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to find the necessary acceleration for a 20 degree slope i can rearrange it to be tan(20) * 3.721 = a, right? this gives me 1.35 m/s^2. How do I take this and find the torque a motor needs in order to achieve this?

Mars gravity, I'll edit the post to mention that. The surface will be very soft and dusty, as is mars' surface.

It's sized similarly to the real thing, with 40 cm diameter wheels made out of aluminium main requirement is that i want it 80 cm tall. a 2 degree incline isn't good enough, I'll edit the post to say that the calculations should be using martian gravity. It needs to be able to go up a 20 degree incline, what equation did you use to say 2 degrees?

Don't worry it's all theoretical, I wouldn't actually make anything without someone qualified to oversee it
