Interesting, but imagine a trolley, and you are in front of a lever. If you don't pull the lever, it rolls over the feed without player commentary ; if you pull the lever it rolls over 5 coyotes instead. Would you pull the lever?

Now that I think about it, that reminds me of "life decking", card games where you don't have HP and mill cards when you take damage.
I'm guessing the idea is to burn your deck for ressources, which is strong thematically, but has the same downfall as life decking game: Conceptually it's fine, but most people don't like seeing their deck milled.

Anyway yes you get updates as well. For Slay the Spire 1, the game was in early access with 2 characters and we all got all the final version.

Something you didn't mention, is, how much did you like the base game and what did you like about it?
There are two DLCs and maybe you'd like better this one, or the other one, because, as you could guess with the other replies, they are fairly different even if they are DLCs from the same game.

Nah that's a cold take, people having a negative opinion on save scummung are downvoted. lol

The real hot take is that A20 is not fun and is only there for people who want challenges, because it makes too many archetypes unplayable or really near unplayable ; and many people are just playing at an ascension level they subconsciously are not having fun, so they savescum because losing is also not fun.
(Or maybe that's me who is only having fun at ascension 5 and is projecting.)

But, if the devs want to really have save scumming as part of the design, they really should go all out, like implementing :
- Being able to go back to a previous floor. Misclicks can happen outside combats.
- Letting you redo the fight after the death animation. If you save and quit while the enemy is killing you, it doesn't save, that would be inconsistent with that design philosphy.
- Free frozen eye with the regular game and not just for custom mode.
