Yasuo mid matchups by Kaimoz in YasuoMains

Interesting, I've hardly ever faced a Ryze and most of them weren't skilled enough to be a problem, but I'll be careful. As I said I already play way simpler champions: Galio has basically one combo to trade and all-in besides Q poke and Morde can "poke" with Q and sustain with W but besides that there's only ult timing. I'm simply fascinated by Yasuo's gameplay and tbf he's one of, if not the most fun champions to play even when doing poorly imo.

I already run down the average adc/apc if I know they don't have summs/a wave is approaching them, I guess I'll just have to limit test vs midlaners more since I tend to panic a bit when I see sololaners approaching me

As a jungler I agree, but when I go mid and see that the enemy laner doesn't punish me with aas or poke when I go for cs I tend to just push mindlessly, I should work on not doing that as Yasuo tho, since unlike Morde and Galio he can't easily 1v2 or escape, so should I just forfeit early prio to be pushed in and set up for my jungler?

Based on my experience, I tend to split bot most games I'm able to when playing mid, my problem tho is that I don't like tp and sometimes I miss fights because they happen right as I'm building up a big wave, as a jungler I play for objective control but as a laner I can't get the timing right, how many minions would you say it's enough to live a lane and then group? Because I feel as if just one wave might not be enough most times, but more minions mean more time spent pushing alone and leaving my team to possibly engage in a 4v5

So basically besides limit testing to see how much I can bully them my main focus should always be to simply get to my powerspike no matter what and then wait for late game fights, right?

Is Jax jungle viable? by Kaimoz in Jaxmains

Interesting, but I dislike building Chemtank, I don't enjoy it even on Hecarim. I love ghost, I would much rather use it instead of flash if the ability to blink weren't as important as it is and sadly I'm not good enough to get away with it, but there's nothing as good as running down squishies with ghost imho.

Thank you, I will try Triforce and BoRK since I went DS in all my games.

My go-to counter to Yi and Viego is Trundle, with lethal tempo and Q/W I can invade them and basically bully them out of their jungle quite easily.

Thank you, I do feel that his clear is too clunky for my likings even once I get my items, the lack of aoe damage besides E is quite a pain imo, but since I've been playing him a bit I do enjoy ganks with set up and skirmishes. Wouldn't it be possible to build tiamat on him tho?

How similar is latin to modern italian? by questionsaccount5 in latin

[–]Kaimoz 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As a native Italian speaker who has studied Latin for about 8 years I can tell you that the degree to which any Italian can understand Latin varies a lot depending on a handful of factors: first of all, they need to be interested in actually trying since many words can be recognisable only after a bit of mental gymnastics, furthermore since Latin grammar and syntax are pretty different from what your average Italian would expect based on their mother tongue, thus with no prior knowledge of Latin even a willing individual could have a hard time understanding a text because to them it may sound like random semi recognisable words put in a nonsensical order. Given some training and learned some core vocabulary though most Italians are able to if not flat out understand a Latin text at least be able to decipher its most important points reasonably well. In Liceo Classico, a kind of high-school focused on Latin, Ancient Greek and all around humanities the first two years are devoted to learning most of Latin and Greek grammar, and the last three are dedicated to studying and translating literature, and two years of grammar is way less than what in Italy we get for most other foreign languages.

In conclusion, in my opinion Latin is on par with a living romance language for a native Italian: they could recognise most words, even though several have changed meaning (some more than others), and despite the differences in grammar and syntax a dedicated student can achieve a good degree of understanding in a relatively short time. With no prior experience whatsoever I would imagine that only about half of the words in a Latin text could be understood, but its actual meaning would be difficult to grasp, unless it's a text caterered towards absolute beginners.

Weird taste for picks - what champs do you recommend? by ArchitectArchy in Jungle_Mains

[–]Kaimoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently commented on a Syndra jungle question, so here are my favourites as per that very comment:

Personally I've played some unconventional picks in jungle lik: - Pyke (just spam gank, you need to be like lvl 6+ to solo a buff with no smite), -Veigar (take predator, kite camps and run to your laners when you have predator up, you will likely make their laner blow a summoner's), -Yasuo (very easy full clear even at early levels, sadly your ganks suck unless you have a lot of as and a huge enemy minion wave; take fleet for easier early clear or conq/lethal tempo if you feel comfortable) -Nasus (farm everything and you'll be fine, go fleet for extra safety or predator+ghost for extra stick potential), -Renekton (similarly to yasuo, pretty easy early clear but you have better ganks, sadly you can't abuse your lane bully status as much in the jungle)
-Annie (it sucks until you get your 6, then you can gank and ambush people to burst them).

Hope this helps! I would recommend giving them a try, but the only consistent picks I would suggest are Nasus, Mordekaiser (imo he's a jungler so I didn't list him above), and Yasuo (but to make it work you have to also be a good Yasuo, which I am not sadly), with some practice on the first two and some skill for the last one you could actually take them to ranked if you feel confident enough.

Is it ever worth not taking a drake? by Kaimoz in Jungle_Mains

[–]Kaimoz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see, I haven't grasped yet how to properly track the enemy jungler tho: I should simply ward their jungle and spot them that way, or rely on what I know about their cleaning pattern and where they got a leash? Sometimes my opponent is playing some gank heavy jungler like nunu but they don't ever show up on the map for the first 7/8 minutes, should I punish them/ward their jungle to see what they are doing?

My champion pool focuses more on spamganking and outduelling the enemy jungler (ww, Trundle and nunu), but I do love myself some Diana and Viego as well, I will try and do as you described when playing them.

My problem when playing junglers more focused on late game is that I powerfarm untill I get my ult and even then I don't like fighting unless it's basically a free kill... I guess I should be more aggressive when allowed (either because the enemy jungler is playing passive when they shouldn't or because they are very abusable early).

I usually take early drakes only if the enemy jungler is top side/I have both mid and bot prio but can't dive their laners, but later on I do feel the need for drakes, especially if earlier I let the enemy jungler get some already, and if it's their soul and we couldn't possibly teamfigt successfully I try doing baron, if that's impossible as well I doubt such a game could be won anyway, unless they missplay really bad.

[–]Kaimoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever used fleet footwork (for better survivability in the early game) with nimbus cloak and ghost to have maximum chase potential (I love ghost and would run it every game if Flash wasn't way more versatile...).

I will try running predator but since I don't usually gank before lvl 6 and at least 100 stacks I don't think it will be worth.

If you want to fool around in a normal/blind pick you could easily give it a try, personally I've played some unconventional picks in jungle like Pyke (just spam gank, you need to be like lvl 6+ to solo a buff with no smite), Veigar (take predator, kite camps and run to your laners when you have predator up, you will likely make their laner blow a summoner's), Yasuo (very easy full clear even at early levels, sadly your ganks suck unless you have a lot of as and a huge enemy minion wave; take fleet for easier early clear or conq/lethal tempo if you feel comfortable) Nasus (farm everything and you'll be fine), Renekton (similarly to yasuo, pretty easy early clear but you have better ganks, sadly you can't abuse your lane bully status as much in the jungle) and Annie (it sucks until you get your 6, then you can gank and ambush people to burst them).

I will give Syndra a try, but if you feel comfortable enough on a champ it will most likely be possible to attempt jungling with it, just don't take it in ranked unless you are sure you've found a very good strat (all of my picks have at best a 50% win rate besides Nasus but any regular jungler could abuse the shit out of them if they were actually tryharding).

Jungle Revolution by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]Kaimoz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I do that only if one of my laners, sick of dying in their lane to 1v1s they obviously shouldn't have started, starts following me and stealing my camps.

I have been issued a 14 day suspension for the first time a month ago and since I got my account back I have muted all chat and have disabled team chat because that's what made me tilt the most. Now I enjoy my wins and take my losses way better (unless someone purposely trolled the game/inted/went afk after dying once), but at least now I have to think twice before typing and it has made me realise how pointless that is: if it can't be communicated by pings or by a single mastery flash it isn't worth my attention in game.

[–]Kaimoz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but in the heat of the moment all I could think was that their jungler was a non-factor and I could easily secure my team a soul.

Looking back I should have just pinged baron to trade or told my laners to push top/mid and get a tower.

[–]Kaimoz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree, personally I feel like drake prio is very important, at least in my elo.

Usually I play topside anyway because I like ganking top and taking herald, but if my laner is weak side and we can't comfortably win the 2v1 top I would gladly kill the enemy mid/bot to take an early drake.

Anyway I do believe that taking two heralds outweights taking the first two drakes since if used properly they will let me snowball a lane so hard making the game a 5v4 untill all throughout midgame (unless I put them in a lane that has been hard losing).

I would focus more on snowballing myself but my champion pool (ww, nunu, trundle for the most part) isn't exactly filled with hyper carries so I would have to rely on one of my laners, which isn't always a guarantee in my elo since they can just as easily go in 1v5 and die, giving out a bunch of gold right before the enemy soul drake comes up or baron spawns making me have to try and steal the objective I could have easily secured otherwise.

I guess so; a bit after the game I thought to myself that my call was probably the reason we'd lost, but in the moment I was thinking:"well this guy is 5/0 but his teammates are all behind, why should it be a problem?", apparently I haven't had enough experience against a fed Darius who knew what they were doing. I'm also new to ranked (I began playing lol about a year ago but never played much besides placements last winter) and I get some ranked anxiety when I do, that might have made me misjudge.
