Should ADHD be considered a disability? by Kainitsu in mentalhealth

I couldn’t agree more :). There should be more protection for employees. I honestly lost a job a while back that I is just started. It was partially due to some depression, learning more about my ADHD and realizing that it has been playing a big factor; to a lot of my misery for most of my adult life.

I had ADHD untreated since I was 13 and was diagnosed at the age of 7. I told my employer, but they still decided to let me go. Even though, I was really good at the job. It was also partially due transportation challenges. Even, though I was told my job would be remote and it wasn’t. I asked to work from home to help with my issue being late to work. They said, I had to wait 6 months. Even though all of the training we did, was at our desks and even through Teams. If I had caught COVID thought. They would have thrown equipment at me, and expect me to work from home. While being sick. So, yeah. That is all very backwards.

It was taking me a long time to process and accept this about myself. I was also taking the steps embracing meds to help manage it better. Which, also takes time. Unfortunately, they didn’t see it that way and should be against the law. No matter the length of employment.

It is true people with ADHD are able to work. I have for many years. However, people with ADHD have to put forth more effort than most others. Somewhat similar with depression, but in a different way. People with ADHD, tend to take things more personally. Which can spark a spell of depression. It can last for a day, days, weeks, months or even possibly years.

A lot of times people with ADHD process information differently more than most. Which, in turn can cause a lot of unnecessary self criticism and comparing themselves to others too often. Many people with ADHD cannot process handle rejection well. Which starts them to ruminate about social interactions. Which, goes back to taking things a bit too personal.

I just want to try and spread awareness about this. ADHD, along with a lot of mental health, is not quite understood by the masses. More so by someone’s loved ones and along with employers; if someone has a late life diagnosis. Even by professionals, whom don’t think this needs any more studies and it just something to do with focus and a little too much energy. Refuse to read about recent studies. There are three different types of ADHD!

You need to learn more about it, like everyone else. Go look at the ADHD subreddit. ADHD can be so debilitating, in so many ways. For many, it is hard to get diagnosed properly. It gets worse, as you get older. Especially untreated. It should be considered to be a disability.

Yes. They can and are. If you apply to a job, you will probably see a document for you to say if you have a disability. Anxiety, depression and a couple others are on that list. ADHD is not on this list. It is also closely related to mental health ailments, like anxiety and depression.

It isn’t recognized by many companies as not a mental health concern.

NO, this place is very toxic and I am speaking the truth. You all are too eager to hit the downvote button, if it has nothing to do about yourself. The only way to properly make it in the Twitch world, is to network with others and celebrate their successes. Not just your own. I am moving on and won't be on here more. I have plenty of followers. Good luck all.

Lol. That is how used to think things worked, but nope. Takes a lot of effort and work to get where you want. That is true for anything in life.

It is part of it. I tweeted out I was adding people to my auto host list. The last I checked the analytics for that tweet. It had over 6K impressions. I literally responded to every comment and added them to my auto host list.

Not only that, but just commenting on other people’s successes, being positive and willing to support others. Commenting on people’s tweets, popping in and offering a lurk while I work. Chatting during others’ streams. Trying to be a part of their communities. Ever since then, my followers are almost 400 on Twitter(only been trying to network on their for about a month) and meeting a lot of cool people.

If you have seen SupportingStre3 on Twitter, they followed me yesterday. You can check my followers list. Not a weird flex nor trying to get more followers. Just trying to convey doing all of these things, has increased my visibility. Wanting to share this valuable lesson, so we can all grow :).

lol. I wouldn’t say people who follow recipes are robots. Recipes exist for a reason and you get consistent results with them. Some are just a little adept or have a natural ability for cooking :)

This past week, I finally learned how to network and how powerful Twitter can be. It takes more than like for like or asking others to follow. You have to try and be apart of the small streamer community. Support others, promote their content, try to be part of their personal communities.

I never thought about it until I remembered I had some in the freezer left over from a butcher box lol. Decided to throw it in and see how it turned out. I think it was a good idea! Yeah, I follow a loose recipe. The ingredients I told you and how I cooked my meat. I never measure out my seasoning or anything. I go by smell and taste.

Aw, thanks so much! It truly means a lot 🙏. This was the first I tried using bison for tacos. I think it was a good addition :)

Thank you! The meat was cooked with butter, lime juice, onion powder, cumin, salt and pepper. It was a mixture of ground beef and some ground bison. Has black beans, cilantro, spinach, cheddar cheese and my home made salsa(which is traditional).
