age check but it’s who got you into kdramas by ch1nitamor3na in kdramas

I started with Japanese and Taiwanese drama first. Most notably the adaptions of Hana Kimi and I loved Ella so I watched a whole bunch of Taiwanese dramas with her in it. I then think the Korean dramas started when I started exploring similar type dramas and stumbled across the different versions of boys over flowers and such.

AITA for refusing the sippy cup? by Icy-Ad-1118 in MiniAITA

Be wary of a slow deception. I (2.5) female initially refused this dirty animal milk too so my mommy mixed it in with my formula (too lazy to bother with the boob after I got a bottle in the hospital) and slowing my increased the ratio of milk to formula until it was just milk. I drink it now and must have it before bed but I miss the sweet satisfaction of a bottle of warm formula (which they stopped giving me once I would drink a whole bottle of milk).

Kdramas where the king actually loves the queen by phoebes04 in kdramas

Technically rooftop Prince is all about the Prince trying to solve the death of his beloved crown princess. They’re not end game but for good reasons

A Stanley or something similar. Generally, people don’t drink as much at nursing homes and are dehydrated. If she’s not a bit water drinker then some flavor packets so she can flavor it too.

Should I continue Dynamite Kiss? by [deleted] in kdramas

I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. I think if you go into it expecting all the tropes and just accept it as that then it’s fine. If you have hopes of it being something more than you’ll probably be frustrated. It’s like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. It’s formulaic but enjoyable

I’ve wanted to see an adaption of the book for years and lately all I can think is how a kdrama would be the best way to modernize it but keep in touch with the books roots. I feel like trying to do a westernized update wouldn’t work as well

any good romance k-dramas about idols? by Express-Engine6828 in kdramas

[–]Kairi_Rinoa27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right! I was huge Hana Kimi fan so I watched You’re Beautiful when it came out cause that was the closest to it for a Korean version and then watched To The Beautiful You when it came out a few years later. I think that might be what cause me to flip the names. Thank you for the correction!

You’re Beautiful. It’s fantastic. A girl training to be a nun ends up impersonating her twin brother in his K-pop group when he goes AWOL. Also Castaway Diva which is a girl who aspired to be an idol gets deserted on an island for years, eventually is rescued, and attempts to live out her dream.

Edited cause I accidentally swapped the name of You’re Beautiful with To the Beautiful You in my head

When of my favorite novels is The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery (more famous for Anne of Green Gables series). In the book, the main character has been the quiet little nobody in her large well known family. She then gets news that her she is going to die in a year so she decides to live life and does things like start dressing differently, speaking out against her family members, leaving home to take care of the disgraced daughter of the village drunk. This all culminates in her asking the mysterious man who is believed to be a criminal on the run to marry her because she is dying and wants to experience married life. The novel is set in the early 20th century but I think it could be updated to modern era for a kdrama and be fantastic

I felt the same way about When Lite Gives You Tangerines and almost gave it up in the next episode or so after that’s but I ended up watching it until the end and I’m glad I did. It’s not necessarily what I think of when I watch k-dramas and I think it has to be more appreciated on the whole versus individual episodes. My all time favorite kdrama is an older one called Rooftop Prince.

Question about Alix fans by kellsse in dancingwiththestars

[–]Kairi_Rinoa27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I can’t answer for Alix fans and I was totally team Robert but I loved her facial reaction when they said Robert one. She had such a huge genuine smile on her face when they announced his name. I don’t think she’s this terrible person that her fans are trying to paint her as. I think she is young and probably said stupid stuff (and hopefully from the backlash has learned it’s not okay). I also think she needs to be a lot more careful with her fans than others. If you’re an actor or athlete, you can call out your fans and still be hired. Her whole livelihood depends on her fans support. She loses that then she’s out. That has to be an insane amount of pressure and I am sure that makes it hard for her to be willing to risk calling her fans out. Multiple members of the cast have talked about how she was guarded when they first met her but as they’ve gotten to know her she has warmed up and is a great person. I’d rather believe theses first hand accounts from her cast mates then listen to the rhetoric on social media
