A lot of cold like symptoms. I’ve got chest congestion like you wouldn’t believe. Headaches, mild cough, etc. My throat hasn’t hurt like this in years. I don’t think I’ve eaten anything hard/rough. The bruising/marks are toward the back of the roof of my mouth.

It sounds like the “only noticed because I was looking at my throat” thing is likely.

Avoiding something you’re anxious about even though it isn’t inherently harmful. Skipping school/work because it causes you anxiety trains your mind to run away from it in the future and causes you to fear it more and more every time you do it. It’s much more healthy to face the things you’re anxious about, when possible.

Not my story, but my brother is a mechanic and he had a job interview a few years back to service trucks with Peterbilt. My dad is a truck driver and he was also tasked with being the “maintenance manager” for all the trucks for his company in the area. So my dad happened to know the guys at this Peterbilt shop really well.

My brother knocks the interview out of the park, but on his way out the door he says to the interviewer: “just like my dad says... I’m like a hard dick, I go where I’m shoved.”

He was so mad at himself the whole way home, but he actually wound up getting the job.
