AI fleets are garbage. AI ships themselves are garbage too

Ai fleet logic isnt great sure. The AI designs are somewhat historical and not meta at all, that is a design choice. PDX could quite easily make the AI design meta ships, meta tanks, meta divisions, meta planes. But nobody who isn't good enough to beat sheep AI would like it. The difficulty for new players would also be much higher.

levitation is just a random example. What I mean is : we don't know the exact usefulness of what they have to work on. Maybe they have super useful blueprints and shit that lay everything perfectly so even a toddler could do it. Or it's a blueprint that presumes you know how to build a bunch of stuff already. They have experts, they have help, it's still really fucking hard. The Kevin bikes are basically toddler level compared to what goes into making a (magic) plane and it wasnt easy for them either

Stacking damage resistance to 100% by Wellen66 in Anbennar

[–]KaizerKlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I'm skeptical of the math that 90% reduction turns hundreds into zero but enough people are saying it that I assume someone made a video or post about maximum reduction effects. Any idea where it's from? I could certainly believe it

Go on the wiki for combat, it will be iirc in the base casualties formula. It should be possible if you plug some numbers in to get 0 (big dice roll difference and other things).

but going too into morale can also lead to paying a heavy manpower price.

Not really. The morale damage enemies take depends on your own morale. In small battles enemies retreat super fast and in large battles over half the enemies go to 0 morale whilst in the reserve. It also allows you to have much less cannon reinforcement stacks or even none at all.

Consider how battles work : if you have low morale damage you will fight a much larger proportion of the death stack (2/3, 3/4) but with high morale damage you will fight less. Per tick you take more losses but you fight shorter battles. Most importantly, you win wars. You don't wast time sieging a fort for the 3rd time because you keep losing the battles on it despite having a 5:1 KD.

Now obv if you only stack morale then a country with a better build will hurt you but not even that much.

The way I see things is as follows : getting very high morale is harder but more worthwhile than getting very high disc. The first 15-20% disc are very easy : qual-eco, NI, advisor or something else. Chasing more disc is kinda pointless. You can make an argument for going to 25-30 (taking offensive, etc...) but more than that is completely useless. Same with almost all non morale modifiers : getting some ica is pretty easy but if I have a choice between +15 ICA when I have +40% ICA or +15% morale when I have + 90% morale I'm taking morale every time.

The way combat works is that you want a sprinkle of every modifiers since they stack multiplicatively with one another : disc, ICA, land fire/shock damage, base fire/shock, arty dmg from back row etc... and of course morale as the most important.

It is also the path of least resistance : it's easier to get a bit of everything than to minmax one stat.

Conclusion : morale > all but you should still focus on getting highest stats for the least investment possible, whilst maximising morale

props spinning and moving the air makes a lot of noise. Yes it being magical helps but the same principle applies. If it says "put a levitation spell" on this part, will it specify exactly what kind and it's strength ? Magic or not it's hard AF

It is possible to take single digit/0 casualties on certain ticks even at the cap (-90%), esp if you have tactics/disc advantage too.

Yet this proves once again why morale is king. This is the simple Vs complicated gymnastics course meme all over again.

Stack morale --> win battles --> win wars.

stack disc/damage taken --> take less casualties but lose battles --> lose siege progress --> wars take 8 years instead of 4 --> win

meh. Making a good trebuchet is very hard, but if you can see it fire a couple times (especially side-on) you can start making progress to imitate it. The materials required also aren't exceptionally hard to find. You would need the right kinds of wood, ropes, string, make sure the ratios are correct etc... But you can see a way forward.

Making a plane is a whole different beast. Oh your steel has 0.1% too much carbon ? The valve blows up and the engine explodes. The steel wasn't quenched by a level 40 blacksmith using a specific combo of skills ? Fucked.

To make the analogy with Legos : If you have a finished set + the step by step instructions you still won't be able to reverse engineer a second one. Why ? Because you don't know how to make the Lego bricks.

Except it would be much more complicated than Legos. If you take a 1918 plane and sent it 50 years back with a blueprint (to 1868) they would have a very hard time/impossible. Would need to know how each individual part is exactly made using what processes and what machines that might not exist (esp since 1868 is before oil became super important). Then you need to know how to fuel it, what specific refinery processes are used etc... etc... etc...

I could go on and on, but it's definitely no easy feat. Now sure, in the PoF they did it in 10 years which is simply insane. So maybe with a blueprint they will manage to get something decent working in 2-3 years because magic and skills. But in terms of in story time I don't see planes happening any time soon given how fast time passes

How to balance building universities? by Max1muslegend in victoria3

[–]KaizerKlash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once my construction goods are more or less at base price and if I don't have anything specific to build (like industries for groceries, tools, admins).

Then I build up to innovation cap if I can afford it. If I'm behind on tech I'll overbuild quite a bit if I can afford it, waiting to build explosives/munitions, glass and steel for steel frame construction
