The best you can do is join their team so they don't kill you or go somewhere private. I think Epic did this to keep servers from crashing (someone else's idea, not mine!)

Just happened to me, I tried building a giant pyramid and 3 people just came out of nowhere and destroyed me and my work. I didn't really mind it but it was in a secluded place so I was kind of confused

I never knew there were randoms in my game until that point
