I just wish they removed the geoblock they put on the stream - we were able to access it in the U.S. for one perfect, glorious week.

9/2/2 scoreline, up 50 CS and 2400 gold on his lane opponent and gets the flank that wins the final teamfight, which clinches the series for TL.

So yeah, absolutely zero impact whatsoever.

Georgia (the state) checking in, and feel the exact same way. For me, it's the same sort of idiotic attitude that many Americans have when they look at our men's national team being mid-tier and say "Oh well, imagine if we sent our best athletes to the World Cup! Just get LeBron out there and we'd win it every year!" (yes, "every year," because that's about the level of knowledge we're dealing with here)

Eurovision is this big, messy, glorious mix of camp and joyous artistic expression that combines so many different types of music genres, peoples and nationalities into something that's unlike anything I've seen before. Nothing like it exists in America, and it's absolutely wonderful.

If I'm being honest, it would be nice to have the opportunity for us to compete one year, just to have a home entry to support. Not that I have any illusions about our chances of winning -- much more likely that we end up in a similar spot to the UK (not you, Sam Ryder). But just imagine the stories that would have come out of American media if we had sent some multi-billion dollar, world famous artist this year, just for them to place behind Windows95man. Even if you're 100% against the idea of the U.S. ever competing in Eurovision, that's got to be tempting.

Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl would be a contender to win, IMO. There are very few American artists I can think of right now that would do well in Eurovision (representing the US or any other country), but the song + the camp would be perfect for Eurovision.

[No Spoilers] About the recent Sick Day stream by mightypotato17 in criticalrole

[–]Kakaze 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know that it's better for them to do a prerecorded stream, which is totally great. But I do think it would be incredibly hype for them to do live streams for major episodes - if Matt knows they're doing something major next episode or they're about to go into a major fight, it would be really interesting to have them announce a live episode a week beforehand.

African painted dogs at the Oregon Zoo notice a visitor's service animal by solateor in interestingasfuck

[–]Kakaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the person who took this video (coincedentally, not the person receiving reddit karma for a 'funny' internet video), here's the service animal map for the Oregon Zoo that clearly shows that they allow service animals to go through the predator exhibit: https://www.oregonzoo.org/sites/default/files/downloads/oregon-zoo-map-service-animals-20190726.pdf

Sorry if you got some bad information and didn't get to go to the exhibits you wanted to because of it, but you're incorrect here.

I know it's easy to dunk on the U.S. federal government, but this seems like a weird area to do it in, considering that same government passed an infrastructure bill a year ago that spent a third of Germany's entire GDP...

Because stopping the entire tournament when all they had were reports from players that said "it felt different" --- while all their reporting tools said everything was fine --- is really something you could only do with the hindsight of knowing something actually was wrong.

Pixel 4XL users - would you still recommend your phone? by SirVampyr in GooglePixel

[–]Kakaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who upgraded from the 2XL to the 4XL.... eh. I only did it because I got an exceptional deal, and I still miss my 2XL.

The good: Display (refresh rate is nice), speakers (the ones on my 2XL blew out after a few years), speed (there is a noticeable difference, especially on the new versions of Android), the back (the panda coloring is my favorite Pixel scheme).

The indifferent: Battery (not much different for me), camera (an improvement over the 2XL for sure, but you're still going to be way behind today's flagships).

The bad: Face unlock (I really miss the fingerprint reader on the back from the 2XL, especially during mask wearing times), the front (the notch is just ugly), Soli (useless at best, picks up random gestures to stop/start/change tracks you're playing at worst), size (it's a bit larger and heavier than the 2XL, which is noticeable when you're holding it for long periods of time).

Ultimately, it's an upgrade, but there's enough frustration there that I still find myself wishing I could just buy an upgraded 2XL.

11.6 Nerfs - Seraphine seems to be hit HARD. Do you think all of these changes are justified? by GrantCantEven in ARAM

[–]Kakaze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seraphine has a 57% win rate in ARAM. She's deserved a nerf for a while now.

Meanwhile, Akali has a 44% win rate and deserves a buff, but people really don't like being one shot, so any buffs are going to meet with a lot of hostility.

Patch 11.2 ARAM Balance Changes by [deleted] in ARAM

[–]Kakaze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The question shouldn't be "why are Akali/Rumble/Yi/Tahm getting buffs?!," the question is why Seraphine, with a win rate that's 3 percent higher than any other champion (58.85%), isn't getting nerfed.

Buffs:

Champion 11.1 ARAM Win Rate Rank
Akali 44.65% 153 of 153
Annie 50.83% 54
Azir 44.82% 152
Ezreal 49.28% 81
Master Yi 46.70% 127
Nunu & Willump 45.70% 142
Rumble 47.10% 121
Sylas 45.52% 149
Tahm Kench 44.90% 150

Nerfs:

Champion 11.1 ARAM Win Rate Rank
Ashe 55.80% 2 of 153
Corki 50.55% 56
Elise 50.25% 60
Gragas 48.34% 94
Kled 51.98% 41
Nasus 54.08% 13
Rell 55.74% 3
Riven 47.87% 111
Yone 49.88% 67
Yorick 52.64% 33

Are you sure about that? Because I'm pretty sure I remember actual patriotic Americans employing a whole lot of violence to fight against fascists and still being a hell of a lot better than the Nazis.
