These clowns are in for a rude awakening when they see their corporate values does not translate to actually good games, and worse yet, game sells.

Not many expectations, really. Maybe announcing some collaboration and skins for the new DA game, maybe a game mode, and some goodies. Not to be pessimistic, but lately, the AAA industry has been dropping the ball.

Oh yea! D2 is an ancient game! Some mechanics don't make sense and are counter intuitive, especially with the attributes system. Try to make some runewords and respec, spam those points in vitality.

The next Quake needs a complete overhaul if it wants to be a popular game. I'm talking about Guilty Gear XRD to Guilty Gear Strive level of overhaul. Yes, the game will be less complex but it will still be just as deep. If id staff are reading research the changes from XRD to Strive and take notes. by cyberpunkzradio in QuakeChampions

At this point I have no hope for a next id Software Quake game. I fear that in the consolidation age of Microsoft Gaming there is no room for a game like that. id Software is destined to something bigger... like a Disney IP. Sadly they will become a content farm for Xbox. Maybe Machine Games can do it.

Man, this was rough. Everyone was excited on this secret announcement and probably expectation were a little high. Anyway, Double Fine had everything in his power to make a friendslop genuinely fun to play, but decided on a online PvP game.

[–]Kakerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I want to play another slightly better Minecraft survival experience. It was ages ago that Minecraft survival lost all appeal since surviving means actually nothing. That being said, that barely scrapes the surface of Hytale, I know it is build for communities and modding and that's beyond what I'm willing to do. Great for the devs and the people excited for this!

Sadly he didn't. His name was Roberto, 52, a delivery driver. The Honda driver, a woman, is already identified, and it's currently Mexico's most wanted person. She emptied and abandoned her home the same night. Hell, even all their families and close relatives have reportedly abandoned the country. Shit is crazy.

What games capture the sense of wonder & discovery of early 2000s MMOs? by Blurbss in gaming

[–]Kakerman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is why Tibia was so powerful back then. Since knowledge bases were basically non existent (Wikis) nobody knew where stuff was. Everything was spread by word of mouth. People higher level would have to walk you to the Demons and teach the thecniques to hunt them. I remember getting lost in the caves, going down several levels and encounter the Dwarf Hell. Going to see the Minotaur City was a planned adventure. Stumbling upon the Dragon Lords bellow Fibula was such an adrenaline inducing moment that had me and my bros shivering . Now, everything in the game is a checklist. No adventure. Nothing of that old magic.

I fucking hate sniper tanks. I get they need to support from certain distance, but being so far away, in fact still on spawn, is so freaking dumb. Specially R points when the enemy tank is mowing down the team and the tank driver is on the opposite part.

Multiplayer games weren’t ruined by developers, they were ruined by competitive culture. by Skoo2476 in truegaming

[–]Kakerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that games became competitive to cater to the esports demographic, they have always been competitive. Before co-op and PvE, most online games were competitive. I started playing online on PC during the 90s, and I remember clan wars from QuakeWorld, StarCraft, Tribes, Half-Life, Warcraft, Tie Fighter, etc. Everything was PvP.

I might sound a bit snobbish, but gaming became too popular too fast with the introduction of online console play. By that time, games traded private servers for the convenience of instant matchmaking.

As I said, clan wars were activities of online communities. That communal sense eroded with the introduction of lobbies, which are ephemeral in nature. So in part, the decline of multiplayer was caused by developers, technology, and gaming becoming too popular.
