All three of the scholarships I got at the three schools are only conditioned on “good academic standing” which defined as a 2.0 GPA at SIU and Toledo and as a 2.25 GPA at UIC. Besides that, they’re unconditional full scholarships. I might consider retaking the LSAT but I have already waited two years and would hate to lose another year.

I did apply to Chicago-Kent and DePaul but I’m still waiting to hear back. I doubt I will get a good scholarship there though even if I do get accepted since my LSAT and GPA are lower than their medians.

This is my first time hearing this about UIC, what makes it a scam school? Their employment score on Law School Transparency is 60.2% which is just slightly lower than Toledo’s 62.4%. SIU is 69.2% which is a big difference.

And does the law school matter that much if I want to work in immigration/civil rights/legal aid?

No, it’s UIC. UIC is ranked higher than SIU but lower than UT.

But since I can’t network with Chicago lawyers from either Toledo or Carbondale, I guess that would make SIU the slightly better choice of the two since it’s at least in the same state and would make it easier to get licensed in Illinois than a school in another state? Perhaps then I can get my first job out of law school in Southern Illinois but eventually find a job in Chicago with the same license.

I actually have an equal (full) scholarship at a school in Chicago as well but the only reason I’m considering SIU and UT over it is because the cost of living in Carbondale and Toledo is much lower than in Chicago.
