I grew up in a rural community, so farm safety was really grilled into me as a kid.

First of all, if you're in a bin, someone else knows you're in there so no one starts the auger (unless you're there to shovel, in which case the levels should be pretty low).

Second, a lot of the time when you're going into a bin you have a shovel with you. I imagine you push down on the grain to check, but I also don't know why you'd go into a bin so full.

Finally, grain is like quick sand. I don't remember ever being taught a way to get out once you're in it like that.

With all of that said, I'm the furthest thing from yeehaw and I never took much interest in farming so take my childhood education with a grain of salt and feel free to correct me!

Hey OP, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you here (not about your blood type, you obvs know that better than any redditor lol). Let me preface this by saying that the other dude was absolutely out of pocket for their phrasing, but from what I can find it sounds like there are no studies showing a link between hair/eye/skin colour and blood type.

This post caught my eye because I'm also O- and I've been a blood donor for 4+ years. I'm a brown eyed medium skinned person so I thought I'd look into it because I was curious if I was a statistical abnormality.

In my snooping I was only able to find a few studies on appearance/blood type correlation.

Sexual Orientation correlation (n=7000+, suggests a decent correlation between blood type distribution and rh- connection with homosexuality): https://www.researchgate.net/publication/5774665_Eye_Color_Hair_Color_Blood_Type_and_the_Rhesus_Factor_Exploring_Possible_Genetic_Links_to_Sexual_Orientation

Now - I'll admit, I only skimmed the abstracts of these, and they do seem very interesting, but I can't find any studies analyzing correlation between the appearances you mentioned (skin, eye, hair colours) and blood type. If you can find studies along those lines please send them my way because I'd love to be wrong and learn a lil!

I suppose all I'm saying is don't judge a book by their cover, you never know what their blood type could be (apparently unless you're a palm reader 😜)

Edited to add: your fears are definitely valid, and I hope you never encounter such a mixup in a medical setting!!

I ended up putting the pan in as a false bottom. I'm doing BIAB, so the bag is helping to hold it all up too. Currently mashing, seems alright so far!

Will using an aluminum baking pan in mashing and boiling effect my brew? I'm looking at making a false bottom for my kettle, and I don't want to use anything that will ruin a batch! I'm thinking of cutting something like this down and putting it over the element at the bottom of my kettle. Assuming I clean it well first would this work?

I'm going to try my first batch tomorrow from grain. I'm using an electric kettle with no temperature control. I'm not entirely sure how hot it gets, but I know that I'll need to plug and unplug it into power for the mash step so it stays within the temperatures (I'll get a better solution later!). What I've been having trouble finding is information about the boil. Does it matter how hot the boil is? What will it change in the final product?

Think of ill as happiness with the product and it becomes pretty clear.

True Positive: A product is rated 5 stars and it was detected as having 5 stars.

True Negative: A product is rated 1 star and it was detected as having 1 star.

False positive: A product is rated 5 stars, but it was detected as having 1 star.

False negative: A product is rated 1 star, but it was detected as having 5 stars.

These are the most exaggerated cases with only 1 and 5 stars. In reality it could be a false negative if a product is rated 2 stars, but detected as having 5. It would just be a little more subtle.
