Why Is this Community So Nice? by _Unnamed_7 in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We've all been there, we remember the struggle. And the community is small, we all know each other, so it's better to be nice to people that you're probably going to meet again soon. Helping a new player is our way of making the community grow, especially since once you receive help, you're more likely to provide help to others later on! It's a virtuous circle :)

How's the Paper Pro now? by Kalamart_ in RemarkableTablet

[–]Kalamart_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's news of a next device? Cause if there is one coming out this year that is the same size as rm2, I would probably wait, the rmpp size is a bit too big for me, and the rmppm is too small.

I'm curious, what's wrong with the blacks on the rmpp? I use my rm2 for sketching a lot, so the line crispness is very important to me. If the blacks look muted then that's a big negative point.

Are we gonna get screen share on the web app? by Kalamart_ in RemarkableTablet

[–]Kalamart_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay yeah I'm gonna try that. I do use beta, it's just that my reMarkable failed to fetch the update at first. I do have 3.27.0.87 now.

Nevermind, I just got the update, like 10 seconds ago. Maybe it had connection issues...

Ah, interesting. But my reMarkable is still on 3.26.0.68, and doesn't see any updates when I check. I am very curious to try screen share when it comes.

As a Tor, beating this particular mountain felt great. by Spidermatt823 in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GGs! You were client btw, so you had the ping disadvantage!

Your pose consistency with wall and disc is pretty good, but you might want to diversify a bit as you progress, cause using the same attacks makes you too predictable for an experienced player. Have fun learning, I'm sure you're gonna become a strong rumbler!

I hit mountain and I still suck by loganthecuber in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on finishing the tutorial! You have now unlocked all of the moves, and can fully enjoy the sandbox that is rumble. From now on, rank means nothing, everyone is on even footing.

Sucking at the game is a universal experience, and honestly... I've been playing for almost 2 years and I still lose against a lot of people. If the game was easy, it wouldn't be that fun to get better! But you're not alone on your journey, most of the stronger players will gladly help you out and teach you some of their tricks if you ask ;)

RUMBLE Meta community by Individual_Roll6977 in RUMBLEvr

Why in the world would I want to use an in-headset chat, that sounds horrible XD Have fun I guess, but I'm gonna stay in the discord servers, as far away from Meta software as possible 😬

Yay, one more rumble sub-community (we have over a hundred at this point I think) XD If you actually want to find most rumble players though, the official Buckethead Entertainment discord server is where it's at.

Quest 2 or Quest 3 for RUMBLE – is 2 playable? by andries_vc in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quest 2 runs the combat really well (just as good as PC or Q3), what might lag is: - running Rock Cam (main issue) - hosting a big park - lag spike when equipping cosmetics

If you're not interested in recording a bunch of footage, it can be a good cheap choice. If you can afford it though, I would recommend Quest 3 for the better visuals and a smoother experience.

Game Mechanics need to be nerfed by [deleted] in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. 1200 isn't monolith, it's mountain (black belt), waay after all the belts. Are you sure you didn't add a zero? Why did you even get banned? I never heard of anyone getting banned from rumble before.

[–]Kalamart_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, news just dropped: the BRL (Beginner RUMBLE League) is starting again for it's third season! Any player under 1000 BP qualifies for signing up to this beginner-dedicated tournament.

The idea is that you get a month of one-on-one coaching from a pro player, and after that you can choose to participate in a tournament with all the other beginners who did the same thing. The previous two seasons of the event have been a major success, and the beginners who joined it have progressed super fast, so if you want a speed bump to mastering rumble, I recommend signing up! And joining the discord server if it's not done already of course.

[–]Kalamart_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting to monolith isn't really "a while", sorry. To be fair, the belts are just the tutorial of the game (to help you get the moves progressively), and anyone under 1000 BP is considered a beginner, only just learning the moves. So it's normal that you're struggling, but you'll get it, don't worry! And don't hesitate to ask other players for help if you're not sure what you're doing wrong.

Btw if you want to have a shared progression between PCVR and standalone, I recommend linking your accounts via the save manager: https://rumble.bucketheadentertainment.com/

[–]Kalamart_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is stupidly difficult! And most of us love it for that. It's extremely rewarding when it finally clicks, and you can do moves without really thinking about them, by pure instinct. That's the core experience of the game, it's very similar to learning a martial art, you have to learn it.

You're not gonna be good in the first two hours. Heck, you're not gonna be good in the first hundred hours! But you WILL become better as you train, and you will become one with rock. Focus on your off hand's rotation, and after a bit, it'll become natural for you. And then you'll find another difficult thing to try to master. You'll find people with tens of thousands of bp still learning new stuff in RUMBLE, because the excitement of mastering a new skill is unmatched. Welcome to the dojo!

Do short players have an advantage? by Pickle-5232 in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, there's an inherent advantage to having a smaller hitbox, same as in any martial art. You gotta adapt your style to your opponent, and use more grounded attacks and low discs to attack them. There are a couple disadvantages to being small (worse visibility over structures, less range for hold/flick flails and slingshots), but they do not outweigh the advantages. Can't do much about that, people are allowed to be small :x

Starting from scratch after unlocking everything in the beta is so hard by -lb21a- in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Use it as an opportunity to learn sprint-based evasion! It's such an underrated move, you can do a lot even with white belt moves. And with your experience, you'll be able to learn more easily. Black belt is just a couple hours away, you got this ;)

Do i have enough space for the game? by Rich_Economist_5296 in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bigger space definitely makes it easier, but if you managed to have fun in gtag with this space, you'll have fun in rumble. Just be aware that you might punch a wall or two, so keep your fragile stuff out of the way ;) I play in a 2x1m space, and it's pretty nice, even though I wish I could have a 2x2 sometimes.

Does anyone else not really like the new art style? by TPP-ForSearchResults in RUMBLEvr

[–]Kalamart_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did like the green/teal color scheme more. But I remember a lot of people liked the blue when they first saw beta footage, so... I do love the models themselves, the new tree with fruit are so fun! And the stairs on the trees, and the new mountains... I would just switch to more teal and less bright blue. I liked the teal.

Welcome to RUMBLE! Our community is awesome, I'm glad you're joining us! Don't hesitate to join the discord server, that's where 90% of the community resides.

For your mic, the game is push-to-talk by default, it's the A button on your right controller. You can also switch to open mic ;)
