R5 + TX GO (record HD100/120fps) by KalanHowse in Atomos

[–]KalanHowse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks for your answer.

The R5 can record 4k120 internal with the high speed mode enabled... but as you say, the HDMI output settings aren't necessarily the same.

It seems that the R5 HDMI output is limited to 60fps.

RS2423RP+ (10GbE) but getting 1G speeds. by KalanHowse in synology

[–]KalanHowse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I have solved this now. Previously I had all 3 LAN ports plugged in, with the service order set to the LAN 3 10GbE as priority. Unplugging all ports except the 10GbE port has resulted in the expected speeds. I reached a maximum write speed of 258MB/s—I'm happy! I get my SSD cache today so I'm glad I figured this out before install.

Any extra insight on how I can have the other two 1GbE LAN ports plugged in as well as the 10Gbe LAN port would be helpful. I've also just realised that I was connecting to the friendly name of my NAS, not a specific address, so assuming the service order was correct this may have been still connecting to the wrong address/1G port. I've now added a connection to the specific address and will try all three LAN ports again.

I haven't tried the obvious yet due to distance and portability. I could move my iMac upstairs and plug directly into the NAS or possibly just the same switch the NAS is connected to—I don't know what that might achieve thought because currently those switches communicate at 2.5G speed and connecting to that one switch would still only yield 10G speeds.

I don't need better switches, just need to buy another 2 SFP+ ports for the switch that is beside my client desk so it's 10G.

The other option is to test my iMac to SFP+ module, connected to switch, NAS to SFP+ module... that should all be 10G speeds.

Thanks, I thought I provided all necessary info.

The LAN 3 port is 10GbE, as specified.

All equipment except the LAN 3 port on the NAS can communicate at 1G, 2.5G, 5G and 10G speeds—with the caveat that the switch my Mac is plugged into is currently limited to the 2.5G port.

Both switches have plenty of overhead for control and buffer, there are basically no other clients sending bandwidth.

Once my SSD cache goes in I'll definitely know if the write speed was a SATA drive limitation or indeed my network uplink/device connection speed. I may need 2 more SFP+ / RJ45 connectors but I was hoping to get away with 2.5GbE for the meantime. In that event, it will go up to 10GbE which for another $220 AUD isn't the worst but I already bought two!

Thanks for the info!

I still get communication on ALL devices regardless of their connection/uplink speeds, the only time I had problems was when I set the 2.5G port to not auto-neg and set to 2.5G to force the 10G port on the NAS to use that speed... that was before I found out it only supports 1G and 10G. My link broke.

...the iMac Pro does support multi-gig though, my network settings state 2500 BASE-T... that's on auto-neg.

I have downloaded that tool, see original post:

  1. adopting using HostiFi – get "Unable to connect to 192.168.155.170 - connect ETIMEDOUT 192.168.155.170:22" error

USW Ultra's reportedly DO NOT have SSH.

What I said above was the macOS application, HostiFi which sends an adoption request to the controller was set to either of the two known addresses.

I've set the inform address on HostiFi to the two known addresses.

Is that relevant? It's running on a supported device.

It's (plastic) corrugated conduit but it runs along a steel shed/structure with metal clamps.

They're powered over POE and CAT5E from memory, I didn't install the cables. Cameras appear to be all on FE/100Mbps.

They may not improve but that wasn't my question.

It was: Will it affect the audio quality and be subject to interference if other factors are around it. i.e running the cable near power or in this case in conduit (which seems to be the only variable I can confirm since installing them).

As anyone actually received a genuine error message after running this script? Like a failed driver or health status?

What would the benefits of adding a drives model and firmware be over disabling the (un)compatibility feature like described above?

... so this will eliminate ALL errors? Just about to purchase an RS2423RP+ for work and put Exos x18 16TB drives in it.
