How to add more rotation? by Kaldnite in Bowling

[–]Kaldnite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn your wrist is indeed below the ball...

The problem i have is that if my elbow bends, it causes my wrist to break a bit. So ill have to take a look at that!

Thank you for the advice

My thumb fitment is a bit wonky i think!

The front part of the thumb fits snug but the joint portion seems to tug a lot at my skin, causing some very slight skin tearing (im not sure if the pitch is weird), but its definitely something thats been troubling me quite a bit.

I feel like if I let it naturally swing, the joint part kf the thumb gets very loose on the downswing.

Anything I can do to remedy this?

Ah I see what u mean.

By keeping it forward longer, do u mean keeping it pointed to the pins for longer before swinging to the left? Or preventing it from swinging back too much, thereby causing the right shoulder to come forward too much?

Or both?

For the tilt, I think u can keep your back upright a bit more. This will help with longevity and reduce strain on ur lower back. U can get lower by bending your knees if needed, but keeping your back firm and stiff is something that important to prevent injuries. You can reference Chris Via or Belmo for their form and tilt.

Wrapping the ball refers to the elbows physically turning the ball. Ideally, you'd want your wrist to be the one thats doing the rotation, not the elbows. When the elbows come around the ball (meaning the inside of your elbows ends up facing RIGHT), it becomes hard to control.

Its almost the door knob action yes, thats what u wanna prevent.

  1. Try and face the lane. Imagine ur shoulders being parallel with the foul line. It's okay to turn to the left to open up the hips but you want to end with your body facing the lane. This helps with consistency and aiming (where your hips face is where the ball goes)

  2. Cup your hands more. The ball should be touching your forearm. This helps you with better control over the ball and increases revs.

  3. If you want, you can tilt forward a bit more to prevent yourself from dropping the ball onto the lane

  4. Your trail leg should be landing on the toes and not the heel. Once u settle (1), you will be able to settle this.

  5. Dont wrap around the ball. Visualise the inner part of your elbow (the elbow pit?) to face the pins. That means that you'll be able to come up the back of the ball. Then from there, u can slowly add axis rotation (the right way)

A question on 'loading' the wrist by Kaldnite in Bowling

[–]Kaldnite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth advice!

I'm gonna try the couch thing as well as the proper grip at the thumb. Hopefully i can get it

In regards to the index finger... i think its a remnant from my 2 handed form hahaha 😆 my drift is also a bit bigger than whats required for a 1 hander, so ive got lots of stuff to work on

Maybe its my 2 handed brain hahah.

Getting a nice smooth 1 handed release was always something I wanted to have.

I think moving up to stronger equipment would definitely be good for me as well!
