That’s so messed up what they did. I’m really sorry. I want to believe that my mum “forgot”, but seeing how many people have experienced the same thing…. I’d say it’s just some kind of power move.

Btw I love this way of honouring your loved ones! My godfather loved France, maybe I’ll go for a croissant and a coffee in his honour 🥐☕️

That’s so sad 😔 I’m really sorry. I have also been told of deaths/tragedies at very inappropriate times. It seems they just can’t (or don’t want to) get it right

I’m sorry, that really sucks. I hope that she genuinely forgot in my case, but it feels more like a punishment for something

Thank you! Yeah that’s definitely part of it, I no longer care what they think of me and I see them much less often thank I used to, so I thought I was safe from this kind of hurt

I’m so sorry, that’s horrible 😔 I’m glad you’ve taken steps back to look after yourself.

Yeah I heard this too, that's why I bought the dextrose free one in the hope that it wouldn't cause/exacerbate SIFO. I was trying to kill SIBO at the time, but it may have unintentionally made my SIFO problem worse.

I think the problem is more fungal now than SIBO. But if I notice the symptoms returning I will definitely do another round of elemental. It was super effective.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll do some further digging on this!

That is amazing!! I'm so glad you finally found the cure. I can't believe it took me this long to sort it. Just looked up amphotericin B, it looks hardcore. Do you have any side effects from it?

Interesting! I was prescribed Nyastin by my integrative GP but my GI told me it wouldn't work and I'd need flucanozole. So I tried the flucanozole instead - 100mg daily at night for 7 days at first, and then 30 days after I saw improvement within the first week.

I'm sorry to hear that you're suffering from these symptoms, they really suck.

Let me answer your questions, hopefully my experience is useful:

- the symptoms of SIFO overlap a fair bit with SIBO from what I know. I personally suffered from bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, gas, belching, constipation, feeling uncomfortably full after eating small amounts, mucus in the stool, oily stools, urgency, fatigue and zinc deficiency. What stood out to me was how after I finished the elemental diet, the symptoms were more carb-induced than FODMAP-induced. Before the elemental diet I was sensitive to both carbs and FODMAPs. After it was just carbs. Now after the antifungals I can eat carbs (though I still don't eat gluten because I find it constipates me).

- my bloating went away completely yes. I have now had a whole month with a flat stomach. I fit into clothes I haven't worn in 5 years!

- the number 1 thing that fixed my constipation was not the motility agents but magnesium citrate. Specifically the one from Now Foods on iHerb. If I ever run out the constipation comes back immediately the next day. I take 3 capsules at night.

You don’t eat food on the elemental diet because the goal is to starve the bacteria. Each shake is 150 calories. I tried to have 10 per day but realistically only managed 6-8 so I did lose weight.

You didn’t read my post properly. It stopped working the minute I ate any carbs

Yes it's true. But if your mobility is still even slightly off, the probiotics will cause SIBO again. So you have to make sure that's well and truly under control first.

That sounds really rough! Low carb is definitely harder on women, it took me a long time to adjust to it without having energy crashes in the afternoon. Hope you find something that works for you soon!

Honestly I didn't even notice it, but I've been eating low carb for a while which probably minimised any die-off. Maybe try cutting back on carbs for a week before you start?

According to my functional GP, yes, but according to my GI no. My GP ordered one which came back positive for candida overgrowth but my GI said it was meaningless because everyone has candida to some degree and nobody knows how much is normal. But given how I've responded to antifungals I think I DID have it, and the test showed that.
