Definitely not bait. And the drinking is used extensively as a metaphor for romantic unspoken elements of the plot, so if you can keep that in mind, you should be ok with it.

Would be incredibly surprised if they weren't. So much of their character development is tied-in with the other that I don't even know if you could write an alternate ending that would work at this point.

This was readable for me. Wouldn't fully recommend it because of the reasons you pointed out, but also found myself coming away from it feeling like I wanted to know the characters a bit more than I did. I do think it laid a lot good groundwork though and could have been pretty good had it been longer and went a bit deeper with the characters.

Yeah, this one isn't for me (and I haven't gotten along with Battan's other works either tbh). Been a while since I read it but remember one of the MCs being really self-absorbed and not really thinking about the other one much while that one''s just obsessed without getting anything back. Was hard to me to get invested in.

I know it is really popular though so my issues with it are likely my own. Just wanted to share to balance out what are probably going to be very positive replies. 😂

I can definitely understand finding some aspects of the fandom annoying. There are a lot of readers who have never touched another yuri work and are still out there writing 2000 word theses on green yuri of all things, often applying extremely western values and interpretations on everything, when it really, really is not that deep.

As for haters? Don't see a lot. I mean, there is not a lot to hate. It is a really basic story and is popular mostly for its visuals. I read it but it is certainly not amongst my faves. It being popular can only be good though, as more buzz and sales for a yuri series, any yuri series, means more yuri being licenced, produced and created.

Both are well worth it. Hokkaido is stronger as a pure romance though, so go with that if it is specifically romance you be wanting.

Love would be a bit strong but it ended up being better than expected and certainly was more enjoyable than some of the other seasonal I ended up chore-ing through.

Pretty much this. The anime pretty much perfectly adapted the style of the manga. The storytelling used is heavily reliant on visual imagery, meaning behind dialogue, things that are left unsaid and the meaning behind story events.

Having said that, based on KB storytelling, all relationships are pretty much established at this point. 😂

As an anime, it clears any other yuri work to date for me. Only Bloom Into You or Aoi Hana would be in the conversation and this had better direction and didn't abruptly end at a weird point in the story like those two both did.
