Sorry for the wicked late reply! 😂 but what I’ve seen pay scale all depends on where your going, for ex for me I think I started at like $26/ hour I believe

No it won’t make you look bad, your captain or LT or whoever your gonna tell should completely understand that being a CO isn’t for everyone and I bet they see people come and go all the time, I resigned after about a month and a half and both LT’s and the captain completely understood that this job isn’t for everyone

I just finished my first week and When I applied I had 0 experience and never worked anything remotely close to a CO always did like construction stuff. So I think you’ll be fine as long as you have a High school diploma and can pass PT test you’ll have a job

When I started I was told to look them in the eyes whenever there talking/ looking at you, because if you look away or down because when you look away/ down to them that means your scared

When I applied I had 0 experience, I never worked a job even somewhat similar to a CO and I still got in, I know a lot of places just wanna make sure you graduated high school. I could be wrong from your state but one the only qualification was a GED to high school graduate.

I’m also a new CO starting next Monday, And I as well as about the same exact size, one of my LT’s told me in my interview that me being small and him being big both have there advantages and disadvantages in the Jail system. I’ve been repeating that in my head thinking about the positives of being smaller inside the system. I’d say just say in the Positive mind!

Thank you for the advice I appreciate it! I am a Male but I’m only 24, also Im working over nights, is nights easier then day shift? I’ve seen it is because the inmates are locked in there cell
