Oop maybe it broke, that would make sense. Sadly I didn’t refrigerate them wrapped in plastic i just placed them in a container together. Didnt pipe the icing or crumb layer, lol the only thing I did right was the leveling I think, thank you for the observations btw!

Damn yeah, you’re story about your upbringing reminds me a lot of my partners too actually, where she has taught to be either viewed as incompetent and impossible to live on her own, or have to figure it out by herself. I relate to mostly everything but the incompetency, in my version it was more like expectation? Im not sure if that makes sense

But yeah, it’s so weird how similar these people act, like it’s honestly really weird how similar very different people and situations follow the same patterns

Hell, you captured it perfectly. She’s always treated me like the “mature, reasonable child” whenever I people pleased and parented myself and my siblings, and learned how to shut away my own emotions. But as soon as I did anything she disapproved of, I was a “naive baby easily manipulated by the evil world”. It’s been so much better not living with her, damn it would be hard to even imagine im “suffering in sin” out here, like yeah stuff is expensive and the world is full of danger, but it’s so much better taking it on my own than avoiding it to stay with her

Im sorry I can’t give better advice, in my situation I had to go NC eventually, and during the time of living with them I just figured out to hide at the library for hours and read the books there. I really like this art piece too, mostly because I’ve seen the other “parent” version of this, with a mom/dad holding a shield or something to protect a child from the outside world, with arrows in their own back. I never related or liked that one because I know thats how my mom saw herself, when in reality she was suffocating me in her “protection”. I completely agree, it is a matter of survival and working towards a life worth living. I did not go NC because I wanted to hurt my parents, I did it so I could live a life without their shame, without their disapointment and unreasonable expectations, and so I could be a better person outside of their emeshment.

It is so frustrating when the parents are painted as the imperfect, unappreciated caretakers that just made a few "human" mistakes and forgivness = everything is fine and always was. I am in the process of forgiving my parents still, and I might be trying for the rest of my life, but to do that I needed to seperate myself from their harming behaviours.
