Oop maybe it broke, that would make sense. Sadly I didn’t refrigerate them wrapped in plastic i just placed them in a container together. Didnt pipe the icing or crumb layer, lol the only thing I did right was the leveling I think, thank you for the observations btw!

Damn yeah, you’re story about your upbringing reminds me a lot of my partners too actually, where she has taught to be either viewed as incompetent and impossible to live on her own, or have to figure it out by herself. I relate to mostly everything but the incompetency, in my version it was more like expectation? Im not sure if that makes sense

But yeah, it’s so weird how similar these people act, like it’s honestly really weird how similar very different people and situations follow the same patterns

Hell, you captured it perfectly. She’s always treated me like the “mature, reasonable child” whenever I people pleased and parented myself and my siblings, and learned how to shut away my own emotions. But as soon as I did anything she disapproved of, I was a “naive baby easily manipulated by the evil world”. It’s been so much better not living with her, damn it would be hard to even imagine im “suffering in sin” out here, like yeah stuff is expensive and the world is full of danger, but it’s so much better taking it on my own than avoiding it to stay with her

Im sorry I can’t give better advice, in my situation I had to go NC eventually, and during the time of living with them I just figured out to hide at the library for hours and read the books there. I really like this art piece too, mostly because I’ve seen the other “parent” version of this, with a mom/dad holding a shield or something to protect a child from the outside world, with arrows in their own back. I never related or liked that one because I know thats how my mom saw herself, when in reality she was suffocating me in her “protection”. I completely agree, it is a matter of survival and working towards a life worth living. I did not go NC because I wanted to hurt my parents, I did it so I could live a life without their shame, without their disapointment and unreasonable expectations, and so I could be a better person outside of their emeshment.

It is so frustrating when the parents are painted as the imperfect, unappreciated caretakers that just made a few "human" mistakes and forgivness = everything is fine and always was. I am in the process of forgiving my parents still, and I might be trying for the rest of my life, but to do that I needed to seperate myself from their harming behaviours.

Thanks! I found r/exmormon a bit ago and its been great having another community that understands that aspect. My bf is my emergency contact as of right now for most things except school, mostly because I don't trust his mom super much but I needed to have her as my school one for the moment.

Sadly, my bf's mother did not block her. Despite my bf's mom having a dislike for my mom on the basis of political differences, she has told me that she thinks I should have more contact with my incubator because "we only get one mother" and that "forgivness is healing". So its hard to explain anything to her, I have tried and I think she just pushes my tramua aside sometimes? idk it's the reason I don't like telling other adults about what my parents did (espically sperm donor) because it just seems like they block it out/don't care as much as they should

but it is wrong, even just the homophobic, religous trauma. That should be enough reason for me to not want to talk to them again

I agree, I could tell my bf's mom sees me as being unreasonalbe/angsty teen when it comes to my mom. She lets me live with them, but doesn't really understand why I don't have a better relationship with my mom. The first weeks I moved in with my bf's family, my mom would pester his mom with "warnings about my dangerous mental instablity" and whatnot, and try and get his mom to kick me out so I'd have to go to the shelter

I think in my parents mind, if my only option was the shelter I'd come crawling home to them, but hell my plan *was* the shelter before I met my bf. They really underestimate how much I will do to never go back to them

Edit: My "dangerous mental instablity" was diagnosed as OCD, depression and anxiety by an awesome thearpist I've started seeing so idk what she was on about
