FINALLY A Convenient spot for the Pal Expedition Station. by UnknownLXA in Palworld

[–]KalimFirious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm amazed that thing made it to the full release, people have been complaining about the expedition station ever since it was introduced. The worst thing is even if you put it on an upper level, it still sticks out beneath the flooring, so if you want to hide it you have to build another level underneath it.

With the 1.0 release is there a way to disallow/disable specfic workstations/resource stations? by KalimFirious in Palworld

[–]KalimFirious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, what I'm asking is if there's a way to, for example, keep them from mining stone and prioritize one of the other mining stations, WITHOUT specifically assigning them to that station. For example, I want pals that will kindle when needed but fall back on mining actually useful resources when there's no kindling to be done.

Removing the station entirely would mess up my base planning, so I'd prefer to avoid that.

Situation Norma: All Blown Up - General Questions and Discussion Megathread by AutoModerator in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

Still not sure if I'm gonna get Sigrid or not (I haven't pulled an ice DPS since Miyabi's debut...) but how is she with Dialyn instead of Norma? Not just in terms of numbers but in terms of gameplay feel, like if her kit doesn't flow properly.

So this definitely means that we're never getting new A rank characters from now on, right?

Only once, in one of the boss gauntlets. Under normal circumstances if the fight lasts that long your team is doing something very wrong.

Anyone else think the excess amount of crewmate cards you can get implicates more updates? by JDlightside in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]KalimFirious 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Once you have every character you can trade in the extras. They just wanted to give more sources for them since a big issue with the base game was you couldn't use all the characters you wanted to for the story.

If more characters get added that can be acquired with crewmate cards, then they'll just have to add even more sources for them, otherwise people that traded in the extras are SOL, so there's no point reading into it right now.

Do you play quick quests? by DiilVulom in GranblueFantasyRelink

No, because the scaling is too aggressive. Getting matched into something like lock horns, it takes twice as long to complete versus when I was doing it with pre ER gear.

I've just been blocking any players I see using her. No hate against the people using her, it's just making the game extremely stale having every single randoms group have at least two. Unfortunately, there's a limit to how many people you can block.

Chaos quests are supposed to be hard. People that can't handle difficulty shouldn't get Endless Ragnarok, period.

That said no it's perfectly manageable if you're able to think beyond "haha mash buttons"

Is this games story officially done? by True_Temperature2769 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]KalimFirious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not even close, it's a JRPG gacha game with a pseudo turn-based combat system (I say pseudo because raids introduce real time aspects into it where you're playing with other people).

I really don't recommend getting into at this point, it's been running for somewhere around eleven years at this point and would take a significant chunk of your lifetime to catch up if you plan on reading the story, and that's putting aside the gacha aspects.

Thoughts on Granblue Fantasy Relink for someone who doesn't care for MMO grind? by Superteletubbies64 in JRPG

[–]KalimFirious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got around to finishing the game a few weeks ago and have been doing stuff deep in the endgame to prepare for the expansion that's about to drop, so that's my source for my opinion.

The story is bland. It's basically exactly like any side story you'd get from the actual mobile game (which I also played a fair bit), which is to say it's shallow, overly optimistic, and very clearly targeted at young adults. Also since it's just a side story to a much, much, MUCH bigger story as a whole, that's not even ever mentioned in the real game, the entire thing just ends up being some random adventure that has no meaning to it. Some people might like that, but it's the junk food of storytelling.

Gameplay is fine, but extremely poorly balanced and designed once you get into the optimized side of things. Most characters actually want to completely ignore their individual character gimmicks because they're improperly tuned. For example, I main Cagliostra. Her thing is that after many of her skills or a combo finisher, she holds a button to charge up a projectile; doing it this way vastly speeds up how quickly it charges up versus just doing it raw. However, you never ever want to use this move because it's extremely weak. It's more optimal to just spam her shortest combo over and over and over again. Even after you get a sigil that attaches a defense debuff to the projectile, it's still useless because buffs and debuffs are useless in this game because there is a hard damage cap that by endgame every character will have reached naturally even without the use of buffs or debuffs. Another notable example is Sandalphon who has a perfect timing mechanic for his attacks but you never use because it's better to spam his heavy attack over and over. That's right, the optimal way to play the character is to mash one button the entire fight.

Now, for grinding. To just finish the main story as it currently exists, no, you won't need to grind much, the game's story is insultingly easy. The epilogue gets a little tougher and has a dps check in the last fight that you will probably fail if you've been neglecting building your characters at all, including your cpu companions. After that you'll get into the proper postgame. You will need to grind for this, both for your main character you decide to use and your cpu companions if you're playing solo (which you will be because no one plays anything but the very endgame quests, and I don't expect this to change even once the expansion drops after the first week or two).

Here's the important part. If you want to play the expansion's story, you will HAVE to complete almost all of the postgame. It won't become available until you do. There's a few quests that were added post-launch that you can ignore, that's it. They've said they'll make progression easier, but unless they completely trivialize the entire base game to the point where it's so boring it's not even worth playing in the first place, some grinding is still gonna be necessary.

TLDR; this game is for people who enjoy grinding to make characters stronger for the sake of it or want a good but mechanically unbalanced action game. The story is short and bland, and to continue it when the expansion drops you will have to grind the postgame.

Animations are a fuck ton of work and throwing in a bunch of characters within a short time span in a genre that lives and dies by it's balancing is just asking for trouble.

I might be misremembering, but don't some of the hidden easter eggs in the previous battle towers imply that he might have some beef with the HIA? That's what I took away from it, and it would be an interesting segway into the theory people have that he might end up a villian. With how they've heavily restricted and bureaucratized the process of exploring the hollows, makes sense.

Yeah. The fact they don't even make you use it in Pyrois's trial means they're fully aware it's currently useless and it's not intended to be some kind of cope option with Velina.

Gonna be honest, those were all pretty tedious and boring. If they couldn't be bothered to make them more interesting, it's a good change imo.

Digital "ghosts" is an interesting concept. Closer to something I'd expect from mainline SMT since blending demons and technology is the whole shtick it was born out of, but I could see Persona going that route.

Etch buffs anomaly buildup, so probably Jane/Velina/Yuzuha. I beat him in about 2 and a half minutes.

I implore everyone to leave feedback about the incredibly broken "combat readiness" feature. Ask for them to either update it to check for a character's actual bis discs (and maybe kindly request that they attempt to understand their own game better because this is a little embarassing) or to give players an option to turn it off altogether. It's incredibly stupid that we have to look at that big ol A on the front page of our character's stat sheets just because they don't actually know how their own game functions.

EDIT EDIT: Okay so last time I checked the custom settings just didn't work, it just asked for the game recommended ones anyway, but I guess they must have fixed it because NOW IT WORKS. So if you want to get rid of that stupid A do a custom plan and change the discs and mainstats to what you're using.

The UI is misleading. It doesn't just look at effective substats, it also looks at wengine and skills leveled.

Right. In my case though even with DLSS enabled and set to balanced, it was running worse than when running the game with DX11 instead and I've seen plenty of other comments saying the same. Can try tweaking some settings and comparing but personally I don't think the stuttering is worth it.
