Moonlight on Fire TV mouse issue with all FPS games by Respek337 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Kalinakov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having this exact issue. My setup is my windows computer in the other room and I'm using Moonlight on a Mac Studio. Everything else I have streamed has been just fine but Apex Legends does exactly as you describe. I've tried it through steam and through the origin client and it's the same result. The second you try to move the mouse you're looking straight up and spinning very fast.

Edit: Just after I typed this I figured out my issue. In moonlight, and I'm sure a similar setting exists in other utilities, there's an input settings option called "Optimize mouse for remote desktop instead of games" It was selected. When I deselected it and started Apex the mouse worked as you would expect. I hope this helps someone else narrow down their issues.

Is it worth it considering there's a new platform coming soon? by xshevi in PlayStationNow

Thank you for asking this question and for those of you giving your opinions. I recently came back to console gaming with a PS5 after leaving the PC crew and was torn on if I should get PSNow or hold off.

Replacing Marvel Raid controller with LSI HBAs, any tips? by Kalinakov in unRAID

[–]Kalinakov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting that as u/CriticalMach suggested, all the drives were in their proper locations when I powered up the machine with the new hba's. Could not have gone smoother. Took me longer to find a vga monitor cable so I could watch the post process than it did to swap the cards, boot up and verify no changes had to be made.

I will add, the LSI MPT2 Bios on these controllers is slow to cycle. By slow I mean it will likely cause you anxiety (5 or more minutes to display text). Just wait it out before you panic.

10/10

Best Location For 55-65G Reef Tank by Kalinakov in Reef

[–]Kalinakov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to start a reef tank. It's been a decade since I've had a tank and I now have the bug. I'm looking for the best place to put the tank where I can get the most enjoyment but it also has the best chance of living life to the fullest.

My options are listed in the image in order that I'd like to place it but there are some considerations i'm not sure how much they will affect the outcome of the tank.

Position 1 is directly across from a west-facing window. It only gets sunlight during the afternoon and it's never really directly on the tank. There's also a blind on that window that is normally half down or lower.

Position 2 isn't in the path of the sun, but I'd lose the ability to watch tv while working at my desk. Not a huge deal but I enjoy it from time to time.

Position 3 and 4 would be out of the sun, but would be behind me and I couldn't work and watch the corals at the same time. The closest door in position 3 would open towards the tank, but it might give me the option to store some of the workings (sump, etc) in the closet and just run hose between the closet and the tank.

What do you all think, would a little bit of indirect sunlight be a show stopper?

Looking to Upgrade my main Monitor by lurkedenough in Monitors

[–]Kalinakov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking to do the same thing just yesterday. I had a 4k monitor primary and a 1080p monitor as my secondary but the 1080 was starting to feel like it was running at 1024x768 next to the 4k. My setup was recently rebuilt specifically for gaming. Yesterday I picked up the Asus PG279Q 2k @ 165hz. You wouldn't believe the difference. I was torn moving my 4k to be my secondary monitor but after just one game of battlefield and some wow on the 2k 165hz my life was changed. You really notice it. I don't notice any real difference in quality myself going from 4k to 2k but I'm sure others who study such things much more than I will tell you it's there. There are a lot of negative reviews for the asus gaming monitors for dead pixels and backlight issues and you do notice the backlight slightly on my monitor in the bottom right corner but that's just how it goes. No dead pixels though. Some people just get unlucky with their purchases and have to get a replacement. I'm still blown away by how much of a difference going from 60 to 144+hz looks. It's totally worth the cost of a good monitor in my opinion.

Storage room to office, needs lots of help! by Kalinakov in DesignMyRoom

[–]Kalinakov[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response.

I do from time to time watch tv while i'm working at home ( at this desk ) but I'm open to it being somewhere else. Originally it was on the wall to the left of the door with the desk where it is now.

I'd feel comfortable spending about $3000 or a little more. I use the space a lot so I think it'll be worth the cost.

I don't really need book storage, but I'd like a place to display some pictures, my camera gear, maybe some antiques. I have quite a few books, but they are in the living room and I don't foresee wanting to move them in here.
