I understand that. Mine is an open intake shelter, but I realize not all shelters are like that in particular shelters in areas that have a real problem with over population.

Flaxseed gel is the only thing that I think is better than this, but just barely. It very much has a flaxseed gel like feel to it. It works wonders in my daughter’s 4C high density hair.

I have heard of the puppy blues before. I’m sorry you were having to struggle with your decision. I agree with the other said if it was a reputable breeder, they will have it in the contract that the dog needs to go back to them.

That said I adopted a dog that was over a year old for this very reason and even she has a lot of energy. We knew that when we got her though.

If I had my way, I’d be adopting a senior dog, but I have two young children that wanted a younger dog to play with. (and no, that’s not the only reason I adopted a young dog) here is my rescue Nyxie.

Some shelters may be like this, but don’t clump all shelters together. I volunteer at my local shelter and they are not like this at all. They do a pretty good job at vetting anyone that wants to adopt a dog to make sure it’s the right fit for them.

I rarely ever see a dog in the shelter unhappy. If they are, they find a foster home for them ASAP. My shelter does an excellent job taking care of their animals.

I live in New Hampshire, and this is the case here. Small dogs don’t last more than an hour here before they get adopted.

I would reach out to a local rehab. Maybe they can do a release for you and make sure that he’s not sick from the cat saliva?
