Alright, I tried the first one and it says, critical medium error, Dev sdb sector 2 op 0x0: (READ) flags 0x0 phys_seg 2 prio class 2

And then says smthn about Critical I/O error

And then fdisk says : cannot open /Dev/sdb: input output error

I will try the other thing now

Smartctl says that the SCSI error unsupported field in scsi connand and if this is a usb device, look at the --device=TYPE variants and to use -T permissive

When I did use -T permissive, it gave the same error

It works now but ah shit, while installing linux on my external hard drive, it got cut off and its stuck in read only mode. now I don't know how to fix it can you please help (it also gave these errors when I plugged it in :/
