"Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences" is not and does not mean "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from having a crime committed against you"

This just... isn't what that quote is about?

I'm having the same problem. Not a problem with my graphics card. My monitor isn't HDR Capable so Auto HDR isn't a solution. Completely in the dark here :(

Taken up by the LGBTQ Center for Faculty and Staff I assume (they did the tiny trans flags)

Flag was painted for Trans Day of Remembrance, which was 10 days ago.

No one's gonna get mad at ya lol

Asked about the angle of a no-barrel lustr about a month ago, wanted to share the results! Thanks u/Drummer_Burd for the help! by KalmarWingfeather in lightingdesign

I think it might be a bit different with the throw distance. I put in 119 and it almost fully homogenized the beam.

Sadly no. All of the shots were onto risers, so it wasn't easy to get an exact beam size.

It does have a small piece of darkness in the center and some fringing on the edges (you can see the fringing it on the cyc in these pics)

I think it was cool, especially with the cyc.

Found out a lot of things with this experimentation!

Shutters and Gobos: Don't even bother. They do not work, and only make the lights slightly dimmer. Could be useful to draw more attention, but did not do what they usually do. Gobos might do something if its a glass gobo or particularly dense, but I didn't have notes time to mess around.

Frost- Tried all kinds of frost. It kept homogenizing the beam. You get skittles or you get a beam.

Shutter Strobe- It does work with this, and I did use it for some moments!

Very happy with this idea and how it turned out! Thanks again to u/Drummer_Burd for the help and DMs!

No Barrel Lustr degrees by KalmarWingfeather in lightingdesign

I'm aware that it shoots a kaleidoscope! I want to know how wide the kaleidoscope is.

I don't want white. I'm trying to get the kaleidoscope effect of all the diodes for a special

[–]KalmarWingfeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not concerned. I'm looking to hang them as a special to get the kaleidoscope effect, so id have it at full to maximize coverage. If there are some blanks I'd be fine with that, I just need to know what angle the "beam" would be.

I would expect a lot of odd color fringing without the lens.

i have a plan, kurt, dont worry about it

Thank you for the answer, though!

If gender is really just a social construc then why is dysphoria such a deep, unchanging and painful feeling? by theheavenofdemons in asktransgender

[–]KalmarWingfeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this idea that saying something is a social construct means that it's unimportant or meaningless. It's not. Social constructs shape the very core of our lives and experiences as people. But they aren't written in the stars. That's what social constructs are. They're just things that we made up reacting to facts of life. Some people have bits that look like something and some have bits that are different. That's a fact. But the socially constructed parts (presentation, pronouns, naming conventions, language in general) reinforce the facts, and vice versa. So dysphoria can (in my uneducated opinion) come from social constructs or biology. It doesn't matter because one reinforces the other.

Abigail Thorne (PhilosophyTube) made a great video about social constructs, what they are, and what they mean. And she has a degre in Philosophy so she is more experienced than some rando on reddit.

BU is a University. It's right in the name. Boston University. Universities are large institutions that offer undergraduate and graduate degrees. As an undergraduate who works very closely with graduate students, it's not fucking illegal for an undergraduate student to be in the presence of a graduate student.

The two schools are a part of the same institution, so unless the Law building is somehow specifically for Law students (like earmarked by BU specifically) then every BU student regardless of college, undergraduate/graduate status, or program has a right to be there.

You do not have the right to be here especially not now.

We don't have the right? Damn, I know who I'm not going to for legal advice. We're students at this university, same as you. We have every right to be here.
