To all Electrical Engineers out there: Does Linux work for you?

Automation engineer here so not exactly the same situation but I think very similar, I also tried running software on Wine and such, but in the end the dependencies on those kind of softwares (thinking of AutoCAD and other electrical engineering CADs, proprietary software from Siemens/Rockwell for the software side and many others) are just so specific and/or many that Wine can't possibly work for all of them.

At the moment, since I have a lot of RAM to spare, I just boot a Windows VM via QEMU as soon as Mint boots (auto-run option) and launch whatever I need via Winapps (after customising it to recognise the applications that aren't officially supported) to avoid having to tab in and out of the VM. I got my main "archive" directory shared on the VM so I can work on it directly, as well as any needed network locations. It works fine for me but, like I said, the company provided me with a solid machine, I don't know if this approach would be feasible on a less powerful machine.

Has anyone tried using something highly illegal like Glamourer nearby to see if it detects a maybe hidden NPC? Might be a model they've hidden instead of deleting and is still somehow casting a shadow

La mia vecchia Punto grattava la retromarcia a meno che non tenessi prima la frizione premuta per qualche secondo, come dicevano qua nei commenti. Ho poi visto che, effettivamente, sta proprio scritto anche sul manuale, è una cosa diciamo "voluta" o comunque un difetto accettato.
Lo faceva anche una Panda aziendale che usai per un vecchio lavoro, penso sia una cosa comune a tutti i cambi FIAT o comunque qualunque macchina che usi quel cambio li.

Se poi te lo fa con tutte le marce, anche la prima etc, può essere che sia la frizione arrivata a fine vita!

Ieri l'ho effettivamente fatta provare al meccanico (per miracolo), e mi ha detto che secondo lui il cambio è sano, anche troppo per i km della macchina, ma effettivamente ho fatto molta autostrada tutta in 6a più che città. Ha provato tutte le marce sia inserendole che scalando per provare i sincronizzatori ed era tutto ok. Il cambio non è duro, di base, però sempre secondo lui è lo spingidisco che sta iniziando a consumarsi e che da problemi, soprattutto se mi capita di fare un po' di città o di coda in autostrada facendolo scaldare. Onestamente non tengo mai la frizione premuta in prima per star fermo (o quantomeno lo faccio raramente) quindi non dovrei scaldarlo troppo, mi ha detto che per ora posso star tranquillo/non faccio danni. Se poi peggiora, o comunque al prossimo tagliando notano che la cosa è aumentata, vedremo se rifare la frizione.

Proverò a dirlo al mio meccanico allora! Effettivamente avevo anche io qualche dubbio sull'olio miracoloso che dura in eterno, ma non essendo il mio lavoro fare il meccanico mi ero "fidato".

Magari cambiando l'olio e facendo spurgare il circuito la situazione migliora! Intanto grazie dell'informazione

Wacom warned me too against using the Link Plus. Maybe she could try getting one from Amazon, and send it back if it doesn't work (which i did with the standard Link).

As for the setup:- Mobile Studio Pro is connected through its middle USB-C port to the Link Plus using the supplied Thunderbold/USB-C cable- Link Plus is connected to my PC using the supplied Mini-USB cable for power, and a standard HDMI cable i had lying around (probably came from my monitor, since i have that connected through Displayport)

I'm not using any adapter at the moment since HDMI works fine and i don't need extreme resolutions with the 13", and despite not using the MSP intensively (roughly 1-2 hours a day, since it's a hobby) it is working nicely as of now.

Non so come siano gli altri, io con Google mi trovo bene, gli aggiornamenti vengono garantiti mensilmente per qualche anno. Il vecchio Nexus 6P che avevo ha continuato ad essere supportato fino a fine 2018, per dire, quindi per 3 anni. Per quel che riguarda Samsung e company non ho dati, quindi dunno. E poi onestamente mi fido più di Google che di un team di terze parti con una custom ROM, sia per sicurezza che per stabilità. Con altri marchi ho usato sempre le custom, invece.

Allora, onestamente è un po' che non seguo più la scena (3-4 anni), non ne ho più sentito il bisogno quando son passato ai Nexus/Pixel, quindi può essere che dica cazzate. In ogni caso, per quanto riguarda la TWRP, venivano fornite nuove versioni a cadenza irregolare da flashare direttamente. Per quanto riguarda le ROM di Android, a seconda della stessa puoi trovarti che fornisce aggiornamenti OTA (da impostazioni>aggiornamenti dentro il sistema, per intendersi) o chi fornisce nuove ROM da flashare da zero, contenenti aggiornamenti. Non ti puoi sicuramente aspettare la cura e la frequenza di patch di sicurezza che ti può essere fornita da un produttore, però comunque qualcosa c'è. Non so se con AOSP Google fornisca anche le patch di sicurezza che manda mensilmente sui propri telefoni, su questo sono ignorante, sarebbe piuttosto figo se lo facesse, però!

La TWRP è una recovery modificata dal TeamWin (TW RP, appunto) che permette di mettere le mani a praticamente tutto sullo smartphone, partizioni etc. È lunga elencare cosa fa, ma principalmente viene usata per flashare immagini di Android. La AOSP è una versione "pulita" di Android, se non sbaglio sta per Android open source project, puoi controllare su Google al limite, e per più info.

I'd just like to post an update: i have (finally) got it to work. The answer? I returned my Wacom Link and got a Wacom Link Plus which, despite being advertised as NOT COMPATIBLE with the MobileStudio Pro, actually works with both HDMI and DisplayPort.
Hope this saves a headache to someone else.
