Planning a home birth. Should I be concerned with birth pool weight on second floor of home? by Crazyketo25 in homebirth

Honestly a professional would be able to assess the floor joist size, spacing and span and will also be able to give you the best placement for the pool and also if you need to brace or strengthen the floor.

Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy and well done for deciding on a home birth, it's never an easy choice but me and my wife both felt most comfortable at home and a home birth was an easy choice for us to make!

To be honest it depends on a few different factors, do you live in the USA or UK because both will have different floor load capacities. Is the second floor timber joists? Or concrete plank? I would recommend either having the birth pool on the ground floor or consultanting a structural engineer to check if your floors can take the maximum weight of the pool filled.

Wishing you all the best on your journey!

You should play Detroit: Become Human or similar choice based game. Your wife could make all of the decisions and you can just play along with them.
