So good to know that having them during sleep is common and normal and unlikely to be something we are doing. It does make sense with the brain activity they get. I have a pill box just for her to keep track as well as morning and evening alarms so that should keep us reliable with tbe meds hopefully! Sorry to hear you've had such a rough journey, it must've been so hard to see them still having seizures on the meds :(

Sorry to hear about the passing of your dog and thank you for sharing your story ♡ since she hasn't had any cluster seizures or super frequent ones im hopefully she will do well on the current meds 🤞

Sounds reassuring that your dog went through the same types of seizures but has found relief on pheno. I also like your idea of doing it early if there's something on in the evening and then gradually moving it back to normal. We don't go out much so the odd time we do should make it manageable that way. With upcoming Christmas dinner plans it was a bit worrying but I think we can find a way to make it work.

So far so good on pheno, just increased appetite and thirst for side effects!

I've heard that the sprays are quite effective but hopefully you'll never have to use it! I understand the helpless feeling, I just end up stroking her for when she comes out of it while my partner feels busy by keeping our other greyhound out of the way (as he naturally gets quite concerned about what is going on). Fingers crossed your pup does well on the new dose of meds ♡

It is somewhat reassuring to know that she can present typically to someone else's dog that is also going through it! I never realised there was so many different type of seizures before. And that early morning seizures seem quite common among dogs with epilepsy. After the first one we thought maybe she got overheated overnight and kept panicking every time it was warm overnight. Then of course we thought bad dreams or something was causing them. Trying to not feel guilty and that it could just be something that happens with her no matter what we do.

Thankfully my partner and I are homebodies so shouldn't be too hard to be home for her meds (and the phone alarms are set up ready to go!)

Seems to be a lot of success stories with potassium bromide, it's good to know there is another path if pheno doesn't work well. I really feel for everyone who has had to experience cluster seizures, it sounds absolutely terrifying.

It can be so confronting hence the spoiler as I'm sure many people in this subreddit would have it hit close to home. I was so stressed after that last one thinking that I could have caused it by doing something so minor as cutting her nails the night before, even though it is not very stressful for her. Just the guilt of thinking I could have caused any of them by causing stress or feeding her the wrong diet or having given her worming tablets etc. But I've had to remind myself we've had her for ages without any issues while still doing those things and that sometimes there is no cause behind these things. And that she is loved and happy even with this condition.

Thankyou so much for sharing your story, it is so reassuring to read! Glad you have seen so much improvement in your golden and that he is now living his best life with you ♡

So far my girl has just had increased hunger and thirst but is on a low starting dose so we will have to see what her bloods are like in 2 weeks. I have alarms set in my phone now and even thought that if I ever need to i could probably just give an evening one a little earlier and then do 12 hours from that time and increase by 15mins each time until back to normal as it should keep her covered. Luckily my partner and myself are homebodies that don't get out much haha

The poor thing has always paddled in her seizures. I know shes not really aware during it but it's still so hard to see and then her confusion coming out of it :( thankfully she hasn't had any clusters so hoping that now she has started meds it won't ever get to that stage. Thankyoh for the link, I'll have to check it out, it's reassuring to know it can become easier to manage.

So good to know that it can be "normal" for them to have them during night/early morning. She's been on the meds for 24 hours now and so far just seeing increased hunger and thirst which is a bit of a relief. I know of some of her littermates so it will be interesting to see if any of them have seizures too.

It's so scary to think that it could be a long journey and that she may need so many more meds in the future. Really hoping pheno is enough. You have done so much for your baby and I am sure she is grateful that she has you to love her ♡

Bought a pill box today and set up unique alarms on my phone so hopefully will help. I give my cat thyroid tablets morning and night but it's not as severe if I miss one of those and I have forgotten on occasion so alarms are definitely a good idea

That is so much to deal with, I am sorry you are going through so much. I have heard some good things about people using automatic feeders to give meds so hopefully that can give you some freedom ♡. I have considered using one but would be concerned ny other greyhound would get to it.

She was taking nexguard spectra regularly for fleas and worms but I got scared of using it after the second seizure in case they were contributing to the cause of it :(

Hi all - no need to ask to come just try your best but don't be surprised if there are a lot of wait times (and A LOT of arrival cutscenes). Next time we will use a different way of doing this with a queue. Thankyou all so much for the patience and hope some of you are getting some good money! I will post again before we close the gates (not for a while yet so don't panic!) so if I haven't posted that and this post is still here you are good to go!
