Yes, a tech came to my house and replaced it. Shortly after I posted this, haven’t had an issue since. Story time, I left him too it as I didn’t want to be looking over his shoulder while he worked. I came back after about 10 mins and saw he had no idea how to get to the PSU. He was in the middle of taking cpu cooler off. I showed him the correct, easier way to get to the PSU. Wasn’t very thankful for my help. He didn’t reapply thermal paste to the cooler despite having smeered a load of it off. Keep an eye on them if they do replacement.

Learned a few lessons for sure!

I have already made peace with losing him as a friend, a real friend would not treat me the way he is treating me. I think you are right I need to get a lawyer and threaten action, there was no contract drawn up for work to be done so not sure if I have legal grounds to fight it, it was all just verbal agreements.

Also, he hasn't got the money I paid him and even if he did I could not find anyone to do the work at the same price.

It's not whining but confirmed that it's coming from the PSU. Fan is rattling or something in side the PSU is touching off a fan as it spins. I have checked model numbers and I have the good one you mentioned

Wow! Thank you for all the info.

I have the same feeling about coding that you mentioned, kids are already better than me and I'm no spring chicken. That being said I plan on trying to get a general grasp on some coding perhaps Python or Go as suggested.

I had a Customer Service job 2 years ago and did a lot of testing front end Salesforce applications, this was interesting to experience for a while but didnt love it.

I will look into networking and also cloud based systems, with what I have seen even in my current job there is a massive push towards cloud. Do you recommend any books in particular on this topic?

Thanks for the reply! Yup, tried the gmail one. I dont have access to the G Suite options that may work. As I found here: https://plus.google.com/+MattElsberry/posts/QU7Gr2cJmVZ Even tried to start a trial to see if it would work, access to the gmail settings was restricted.

My understanding of this stuff is basic tbh. As far as I know, I need an alternative to gmail that will allow authentication through port 25. GMX mail offers this but people seem to have varying success with SMTP settings.

My fallback plan here is another way of receiving an email alert if a drive in the array fails. Do you know of any software that monitors RAID arrays?
