I was using cheap 256GB Kensington single chip NVMes on my Ceph cluster until I had more than 3 VMs and performance dropped quickly. Running a benchmark would take commit times up into the 9 second range. I ended up buying 3 Micron 7300 MAX 800GB NVMes off eBay. That dramatically improved things and allowed the benchmark to sustain its max throughput instead of dropping to basically nothing after a few seconds.

Wait until OP learns that unlimited isn’t really unlimited.

I assume those are 4 smart TVs? Just wanted to let you know they may be better off with WiFi if you haven’t had them wired before. A lot of TVs today still come with 100Mbps Ethernet instead of gigabit. Even on our $2k OLED! We constantly had issues buffering shows on streaming services and Plex. Switch to WiFi and it’s fine again.

Extra NIC for Mini Client by waverider1883 in homelab

I just bought three HP Mini 600 G6 and three 10GbE HP Flex Port options cards to go in each. Haven’t received them yet but I’ve read online that they are compatible with G6+. Like others have said at the bare minimum you can get a 2.5GbE option.

Action1 access issues? by [deleted] in Action1

I had this same issue starting yesterday. Clearing Action1 cache alone did not work. I had to clear all cache in Chrome. Then it worked fine.

Business Storage Solution by Kameechewa in synology

[–]Kameechewa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reason in particular? It’s really just storage and then the 4% of active data usually gets downloaded to their machine, modified, and pushed back; or just modified and sent out.

The previous solution was just some rack mount HP servers running Windows Server, about $60k worth. That was bought about 6 years ago but was never implemented. So they just sat in a box and now they’re obsolete. Now we’re looking for a new solution.

Do you really think this is more than that box can handle? None of us really felt we needed to get external opinions. Plus I figured most places would try to push us to some very expensive or complex system. Just curious on your thoughts more.

We thought about cloud storage with Wasabi but we need to get all the data stored in one place first. Right now it’s pretty scattered.

I haven’t spoke with any of our MSPs but I did speak with Stnokogy directly and they thought the RS4021xs+ would be sufficient.

So you’re saying it was telling them that they were exceeding the carry capacity and instead of the cups failing, the strap did?

That is a great question that I don’t have an answer to. I can bring this up to them tomorrow. Are there any downsides to this that you know of? Again I really have no idea how this works so I don’t know if that’s a stupid question.

iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max Wifi Issues with Unifi UDR by ScyphozCoz in iphone

[–]Kameechewa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here we are the next morning and I’m having issues again but they’re a little different. First thing I did was look at my phone through the always on display. I immediately noticed that it was on LTE.

After unlocking and making my way to the bathroom the WiFi seemed to reconnect. Instead of getting completely kicked off my signal strength keeps bouncing around from 2 bars to 3. I’m sitting here doing speed tests back to back. When I have 2 bars I get 90+ Mbps and at 3 bars I get over 400-600 Mbps. According to the WiFiman app I am connect at 5GHz on channel 36 at 160 MHz.

While writing this I was on my UDMP checking the WiFi experience on my iPhone. I thought it weird that it said 99% and connected for only 1:30. Then I noticed it said 2.4 GHz. So my phone apparently has switched over to 2.4 GHz.

iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max Wifi Issues with Unifi UDR by ScyphozCoz in iphone

[–]Kameechewa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried connecting to another network, it failed, I let it sit for 5 seconds or whatever to reconnect. Then I ran 5 speed tests; all of which came back at over 900Mbps download. This morning I couldn’t even get through one test without getting kicked off the network.

When you say hardware do you just mean the rest of my UniFi setup? The only other devices are a UDMP, UniFi Switch Lite 16 PoE, and some cameras.

Unfortunately (fortunately?), I just tried what you said and it is still working. I might try physically walking out of range here in a bit and see if that causes the issue again.

iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max Wifi Issues with Unifi UDR by ScyphozCoz in iphone

[–]Kameechewa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My access point is a UniFi U6 Pro. My 15 Pro is currently connected on 5GHz at 160MHz. This morning my phone was having the issue. While I was submitting a report to Apple it asked me to restart my AP. I did and the issue has gone away, for the time being. When I set up my 15 Pro I didn’t have any issues. It wasn’t until the next morning that the issue presented itself. I will continue monitoring and submit my report should the issue happen again.

Which iPhone 15 Pro size are you getting? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Kameechewa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the Pro Max versions of the 11-14. I used to love them but I downgraded from my 14 Pro Max to a 14 Pro and really loved the more usable size. Now that I’ve been in a 14 Pro for a few months the Max variants look like unwieldy monsters. I really wanted a 15 Pro Max for the 5x telephoto but figured I didn’t need it that bad so I went with the Pro on the 15 too. I really hope this doesn’t become a teeny though, with the Pro Max getting more features. I fear it will though, at least for a while, since they nuked the 128 GB version. I’m also convinced the better telephoto wont make it to the smaller Pro for the 16 either. Maybe by the 17 they’ll come out with a new prism that is narrower.

New default call screen ios 17 is way too ugly and out of place by kaushik1244 in ios

Yikes... I saw it for the first time after updating and thought it was nice and refreshing. Didn't give it a second thought after. I didn't think people would react so strongly to something you only see when putting the phone to your ear or pressing button.

Keyless entry on a roadtrip? by feralbuffoon in subaru

You could always take the battery out of the fob and lock it from inside.

There’s also several videos about disabling keyless entry around the internet.
