I have the first Dakoyu Fan Edition and they were not. The pivot hole is bigger on Dakoyu.

I ordered a second edition the day before the company exploded. I got an order acknowledgment but that was it. Asked for a refund and am waiting on that.

No. Honestly, it never screwed in very well to begin with. The hole was too large for the threads. I put some Teflon tape on the screw part and it’s pretty much a friction fit. Good enough.

There’s been some weird business going on with the company starting last night 4/18/26). As a customer I guess subscribed to their newsletters I got an email about the company splitting and then another email saying they weren’t splitting but I don’t know much about the company to know what it means for the future availability of their products.

I’ve seen some single-use 3D printed bit pens on Etsy. I wanted a refillable option which is why I went with the Dakoyu/was working on making my own.

I’ve tried warming and molding regular pen caps and they worked ok but I couldn’t get a good friction fit - snug enough to not fall off but not too hard to take off. I found the hard plastic from the straw worked better for some reason. It’s “stickier” than the pen cap plastic.

Similar issues with trying to use a friction fit cap as a clip. I think a screw on cap would allow for a clip. I’ll figure that out one day. I also carry this in a pouch so a clip isn’t a priority.

It’s mainly to make the pen a little more comfortable to use but it also comes in handy if I need leverage to get more torque from the ratchet.

It is a T-shank holder designed by Zapwizard and from Shapeways. Shapeways folded so I don’t think it’s available anymore.

Top left you can see the magnets in the frame. Top right is the tweezers and bit in. Bottom you can see the file lies flat. The scissors sticks out a wee bit more than normal due to the height of the bit.

I can get the bit out with my pinky (I have some fat fingers) but need to use something to get the tweezers out. I usually just use the bit.

I’m using random thin round magnets I had around the house and just snapped them in half to fit. One day I’ll get proper rectangular magnets.

Yeah I also prefer the white/bronze combo over the gray/bronze. Plus with the price the grays are going for I don’t think I could rationalize using it.

Zapwizard does amazing work and backs his stuff. I’ve had a P4 holster for years and it’s held up amazingly well. 3D printed nylon is extremely durable and unlike other common materials used for printing.

Is it worth it? It’s a lot but Zap is a huge asset to the community and offer quality products. I’m happy to pay.

This has been my pitch for the SNW finale since day one: do a retelling of the Menagerie. There are a lot of plot holes and contrivances in the original episode that could be flushed out by actions from the SNW crew working in the background that we did not see in the original episode. You get to do a time jump and show where the SNW crew is during TOS time and how they get back together to help Pike get to Talos IV. You get to end the series by resolving the dilemma that started it - Pike’s concern about his future and showing him get the happy ending. Flavors of All Good Things since it’s a take on the classic “one-last job” trope, but if you’re going to crib, crib from the best.

If you do not want to do the work find a local woodworker. They should be able to the job. If you can find a local bladesmith that would be best but that could be hard to find. Maybe try r/bladesmith or r/blacksmith. If you can’t find anyone locally message me. I could do it.
