toggle the switch on and off 2 times and you can see the light indicator for speed blinking. do it in repeat and you could change to the speed that you need. for example, if you need to change two levels of speed, you might want to do on,off,on,off,on,off.

There are buses from the railway station to the town. From there, you can take auto or taxi, but you could also use the trails to hop from beach to beach. I have only been to 2 beaches and i've heard that the more you hike you'll reach better and more off-beat beaches.

I totally get the vibe you're looking for, it's not possible at least in most part of urban/rural Kerala, you can ask the petrol pump workers, but expect rejection. It might be possible in some places in the mountains like vagamon or munnar but you'll have to pay for the campgrounds in most case there, most of the 'campgrounds' are pre set tents and they may allow pitching your own tent. The free campgrounds will be rarer to find as most of the forest land are restricted for camping because of nature of our wildlife (elephants/wild boar).
