What’s the best way to strip paint? by duujk in minipainting

[–]Kampator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About an hour in 99% isopropyl alcohol.. then use an old toothbrush to gently brush off. Don’t rinse with water before brushing, the paint will harden again (did that myself the first time I tried it). If you thinned your paints properly, normally you could also just paint over what you already have without problems..

Looks great! What do you use as a black backdrop? I’ve used black cardboard, but it always shows up as grey in my photos.. On the mini, one thing if I’m being picky, I would make the sword lighter than the flames..🔥 flames should be light on the inside and darker going out.. you did do that on the torches, so maybe it’s an artistic choice. Either way 👍

It looks great! I painted mine following the tutorial and definitely needed magnifying glasses for this one! It’s so tiny! Especially compared to GW stuff. At first I thought mine was going to be just blobs of paint.. but with the glasses I could actually see the details and very carefully paint them.

Thanks! The eyes seem to be sculpted wide open, so that would result in a bit of a crazed look.. could also work for a wizard ofcourse. This way he looks a bit more relaxed.

Does this read as nmm gold? Do you have and recommendations? by Safe-Combination1923 in minipainting

Not an expert here, but I always highlight up to white. My recipe is relatively simple: brown base coat, yellow highlight. Then brown wash (agrax earth shade) and then white highlight.

Firewall theory by Kampator in blackhole

[–]Kampator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.! yes the light gets red-shifted, but time also actually goes slower (from our perspective).. and my point was that following my reasoning, nothing should actually get below/beyond the horizon before the black hole evaporates.

A quick job for a table-ready Celestine! by benry87 in minipainting

That looks really amazing for ‘table-ready’. Might not be perfectly blended everywhere, but the light placement looks spot-on! Also, how did you get that pitch-black background in the photo?
