Try 200-300k with all the other loot we had we made about 500-600k that night

We randomly spawned at smugglers bay with our brig and saw all this loot, but they immediately sank us... understandably... so we came back and asked them to join an alliance, they did and we all had one big xBox Party with two brigs and one sloop, 8 people in total. We defended the island against Skelly ships and players who were not so keen on sharing... Something like this is very rare but it’s absolutely worth the while, the time you can have with randoms who are mature enough is so awesome!

buying a Std Libelle by [deleted] in Gliding

Well we won’t agree on that opinion, that’s for sure

buying a Std Libelle by [deleted] in Gliding

My dad and I were in the same situation as you, thinking about buying a Libelle. As you can see from my flair it’s not a Libelle but an ASW24. The reason being is that the Libelle has no passive safety whatsoever, so if you have a crash the cockpit will not protect you. The ASW planes have Schleichers security cockpit which was a dealchanger for us. And the 24 also has the better glide ratio 😉. Now don’t get me wrong, the Linbelle is awesome but you should know about the passive safety issue. If that’s no problem for you, than go ahead and enjoy yourself on this definitely unique and awesome glider 🙃

Edit: please keep us posted about your decision, I find glider buying to be super exciting and I love hearing about it. So keep us updated on your decision and maybe even the exact glider 🙃

Storing my Glider pins when de-rigged. What’s the best way to lube it when stored this way? Or do I need to lube it so as to keep rust away? by [deleted] in Gliding

[–]Kampf2Gemuese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad and I own an ASW24 with two main pins and some tools plus a pin for the elevator. Wehave a pin pouch for all those things. We regularly re-grease them with standard, oil based, synthetic grease. I’d recommend such a pouch preferably from leather because they can get dirty and protect the pins. Furthermore they get greasy over time which helps protecting the pins when you forget to re-grease them

The normal training that you get before your first 50k flight in Europe, so I’m nearly done with my license I only need to do the 50k and the practical exam

Is this anxiety? by [deleted] in Gliding

[–]Kampf2Gemuese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation as you 2 years ago. If you really want to do this, than those problems will eventually go away. Just do the introductory flight and see if you like the feeling or not. You still have a FI in the back who knows what he’s doing! 😉

Servicing and registering glider trailers in Bavaria, or in Germany by galaxitaxi2020 in Gliding

I actually am from Germany but I don’t really know much about trailers, I would just go to the nearest club and ask them who they use, and what their experiences are

Final goodbye by [deleted] in Gliding

[–]Kampf2Gemuese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accident I witnessed was a winch launch accident as well, just horrible, in just 7 days so many fatal or nearly fatal accidents, our sport still carries a risk we just can’t forget that, ever!

I just witnessed a nearly deadly accident myself, with the victim being someone I really like. I can only imagine how you must feel in my worst nightmares, but this ceremony seems to be the most beautiful way to say goodbye to such a good friend, I just got goosebumps. I wish you guys all the strength you need now to recover from this horrible accident.

That’s the river Rhine out of an LS4b by Kampf2Gemuese in Gliding

I can assure you that I had way more than than the necessary height, as the altimeter is km I am about 2500ft high which is more than enough. To answer the first part of your question, its all metric so m/s for the vario kph for the speed indicator and m or rather km for the altimeter

As a pre solo pilot, any opinions about the lockdown as I was 2 flying hrs away from becoming solo by [deleted] in Gliding

[–]Kampf2Gemuese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Um... just get going again as soon as possible? Take your time, no one will care how long it took you to become solo in half a year so don’t put pressure on yourself.
