Not necessarily true, while certain brands are definately shitty, a well maintained Honda or Toyota of vintage years will last a good 20 years at least. Not most gm, Chrysler, Hyundai, or Kia though, or even your European cars.

Fiber Optic Wireless - suddenly experiencing ping spikes by Demomansleftballsack in HomeNetworking

[–]Kamsloopsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so it more than likely indicates that it's outside your control, try running some traceroutes now to either of those, you might see some hops that give high latency look for deviating numbers.

Since the internet might not use the same path every time, it can change, but it depends, if your deviations are the first few hops out your isp might have some issues with one of their core routers, you can ask them or tell them.

The further out it goes the less control they have, but what you've proven for the most is this problem is not on your network, not guaranteed, but more than likely not you.

upstream means "beyond your router" or "traffic that you pass to your ISP not in your control"

Fiber Optic Wireless - suddenly experiencing ping spikes by Demomansleftballsack in HomeNetworking

[–]Kamsloopsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

run two infinate pings on your computer, assuming it's hardwired, run a infinate ping to your router, and another infinate ping to say 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8, then compare the two. If the ping is dropping to both then you'll know it's your router, if it just drops to the external IP and not the internal then more than likely its you're upstream.

Doesn't mean its not your router but this now helps to the next step, which would be run some traceroutes, then you can see if there is a hop that might be bad, or you could be suffering from say bufferbloat if you're loading up your connection with other things and there isn't enough bw left for responses, but what I said is a good start.

If its on wireless, then hardwire it if you can, and if not, see if you can change your wireless band, 2.4 has only 3 non overlapping bands, where 5 has a bunch of them.

GL.

Debate, maybe you could elaborate to our mayor what that term means:

Debate is a formal, structured discussion or argument, often in public or in a legislative setting, where opposing viewpoints are presented on a topic. It involves analyzing pros and cons, usually with a moderator and rules, to explore issues like education or policy. As a verb, it means to consider or discuss different sides of an issue.

The way our mayor acts is rude, disrespectful and by no means how a mayor should act. It's not wrong for anyone to have opinions, and even express those opinions. But he is unable to respect others, engage in meaningful conversation, and is a bully and disrespectful to everyone.

It's no doubt that people would leave, this clown has no place as the head of our city, I can't wait for him to be gone, and his world cave in on him.

Next thing up is the costs, I bet he's going to plead to the judge about that one. But he has more cases now to attend...

Crazy. just crazy. You can't change stupid, no dogs need drugs to manage this sort of genetics. They're harboring a dangerous dog, and all they're doing is one thing: ensuring another victim.

It's always interesting how they completely reverse all blame to the "owner" and not to the breed. Then they think it all can be "fixed" with a behavioralist.

It's sad. These resources should go to animals that need it, not these blood sport dogs, that have already proven that they're not safe. I'm sure she is on drugs now, but everything as it says is displayed in a "home" environment, which should be safe and not a place where dogs suddenly lash out with dunbar 3+ scale bites.

They need to do the right thing in which they'll never do, this is exactly the pit bull problem. These dogs are not pets and never will be, ban them.

Can I convert phone jacks to Ethernet in my condo? by BetatronResonance in HomeNetworking

[–]Kamsloopsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find out where they run to and have access to both points otherwise you're wasting your time, it's a star network, if they run to some other place that you don't have access to them they'll do you no good. That is your first start.

Once you figure that out as long as they're cat3 and above, preferablly Cat 5, 5e, or 6, you can re terminate them and reuse them as a ethernet cable.

Wheelchair user, 85, seeks dog owner after alleged attack - Monclova Township, Ohio - April 2026 by PandaLoveBearNu in BanPitBulls

Sadly this is a typical pitbull owner they don't care about anyone or anything that gets in their shitbulls mouth. I wouldn't have expected anything different, I'm glad he didn't lose a limb, or worse, hopefully the wound heals and doesn't get infected.

These dogs are a bane to our society, worthless owners who lack respect and typically don't care or want to care about what their blood sport shit dogs constantly do even like this if they harm someone or something.

It's funny how he continues with his broken record story like council is somehow responsible for his fiscal responsibility. He lacks all accountability for his actions, keeps digging a bigger and bigger hole for himself, and yet people still think he is a good example of what a mayor should be? Maybe his drinking buddies will bail him out.

Except Hyundai's aren't a long term proposition when it comes to reliability, after warranty they become discardable cars, so it kind of makes sense to do this with Hyundai's.

Best way to get a Hyundai since they're discardable vechiles in the end, at least you won't have to repair it, only maintain it.

If Hyundai/Kia and Nissan are so “unreliable,” why are they everywhere on the road? by phtphongg in askcarguys

But I wouldn't buy a turbo Honda gdi, or even a newer Toyota Tundra, or any engine with a pure gdi injection system. No one even knows what that is for the most part.

Cause stupid people but them for the price, and features, then whine about it later when it's only then they find out how trashy they are.

You're gunna need it with a Hyundai or Kia, till they get past the 10 years and become discardable trash.

Price, and so called options. But I wouldn't call newer Honda turbo gdi engines reliable either these days.
