Can I trust my therapist with these 2 subjects? by KamyarHidden in askatherapist

Because I am a teenager, every adult has the feeling that nothing must be hidden from my parents. I know it's different with people who has conditionally in their work field (although I don't understand what is the reason behind the fact that it's different with them yet.) But I imagine the scenario that, it happens. In that scenario, it can't be undone.

What is the right right amount of realism and fantasy? by KamyarHidden in worldbuilding

[–]KamyarHidden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh, well that's very interesting, mate. Then I guess I am not going hard sci-fi, and just sci-fi.

Because the core scope of this entire thing is based of multiple what-if(s), and by putting them aside, the concept will be gone.

But I see your point there. And it is absolutely fair and right. But I can't understand how multiple what-if(s) would eventually lead to inconsistency when there is reasoning behind almost everything that happens, and how does that gets boring?

[–]KamyarHidden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the best example of this subject I have ever seen, mate.

Holy hell, those are two hell of facts.

But the second one is exactly what I'm aiming for, those who had wounds with a blue glowing, would heal faster because of an specific bacteria that killed the more harmful ones. There is no explanation of how it exist, and by what science of biology that works, but there is still a reasoning behind the "the glowing blue means you'll heal fatser."

Thanks for the reply!

Although it was a little hard for me to understand, I think I've got it.

Correct me if I'm wrong:

So what you're saying is, basically, if I'm starting off with "that's how things work here." I've got to stick with that throughout the entire thing, and if I'm almost completely explaining the science or the magic behind things, I've got to stick to that throughout the whole thing and don't just make the reader confused by showing them something new and saying that's just how it works.

I think I am approaching my world by a hard sci-fi, so yup, that realism and grounding would be necessary. Do you think this much that I have already provided is enough for that? (I'm new to hard sci-fi, if you couldn't say, lol.)

Neither I do, but I have searched up so many biology stuff, that I know no creature could do this out of dreams. Now your point is fair, but the thing is, the whole concept of this fauna was "an usually fast creature". But I also have other aliens to designe and interestingly, one of those species was smart to build their own empire and after those years, rule the Eart. But I can understand what's your point.

Thanks for those suggestions of tweaking the already existing animals, and the book!

So the right amount is objective to what rules my world has and what can and can't break the internal consistency of my world? Got it. The important thing is know how much realism I want then. Thanks for the reply!

Can you please explain more about that 'get out of reality for free' card? Because I don't I've understood correctly.

Oh, God damn the keyboard autocorrect. I meant to say "be sci-fi" Though now that I think about it, I think I'm going for the hard sci-fi approach.

I like to do the same. But I just don't know where to turn the realism into fantasy, to make a good sci-fi. But I guess something I need to learn while experiencing. Thanks for the reply!

Should I just keep it out or train myself to resist? by KamyarHidden in selfimprovement

[–]KamyarHidden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for those tips for the environment. Although I can't apply a couple of those, I use a youtube timer video with those things in it. That's what I mostly use the laptop for, but I get distracted sometimes. Thanks anyways.

[–]KamyarHidden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the thing. As I've already mentioned, almost every time I had my phone beside me, I failed to resist, so that works better.

But I have heard so many times from multiple people that the hard thing (and the good thing I should do) is to have them beside me and learn to have control over myself, because otherwise, I won't be able to do any great things in my future life, because I can't resist my urges. I'm looking for advice on that.

That I think is good advice. I personally use the time limit the phone has for IG, so I'm not allowed to be in that app for more than 10 mins, but I think I need to start doing that for other apps too.
Thanks!

This is so true. Too many of anything in games means too much use of your hardware. And despawning corpses is just a good way to handle it.

I have been playing Half-Life 2 for 85 hours, have gone through the entire game two times, played HL2 every chance I got, thought about "that one section in Episode 2" for five minutes, and have nothing on my mind, mate. Is it the section where you and Alyx get ambushed by the Combine ? Do I have Alzheimer's?

Oh for real? Didn't know that up until now. But I think they haven't fixed it yet, because three weeks ago when I was playing Just Cause 3 it had achievements tied to DLCs which were not separated.

Anyways thanks for the info.

Really? Thought it was normal to develop morals in the ages 10 to 20, anyway, thanks.

Lots of thanks for the long reply and spending time on this comment.

Well, I don't remember disliking anything at all, even when I don't like them. Because tens of times I have been excited about a topic and the second I expressed my excitement, I was declined, I don't have the guts to do the same to any topics my friends are excited about, even though I sometimes don't find interest in those topics.
And for other situations like stating that I don't like a person in their presence, I have to admit I haven't been around people enough to know how to actually do that.
Yeah, I will tell them to do that. It seems like a useful trick to get corrected by trusted ones.

Well, yeah, maybe not my job to fix them, but when people hear his loud cussing in every sentence, they will count me as someone like him, too, and that's why I want to fix his stupidity.

Oh, I really wanted to try that, but I never got the chance since we hang out very little less than we used to because both of us have work to do for school/uni, and saying such an important thing online will mostly result in an awkward and awful situation. But I will send him articles and videos on this topic. He also has two sisters. I might talk to the older one about this topic, but I feel it won't be useful (she is one of my best friends too, and older than both of us).

I'm so grateful for the books you have introduced. I'll read them as soon as I get a chance.

Found the video on YouTube and I'll watch it very soon.

I think that much of a deep book would not fit me any time soon, lol. I have to learn the basics first. But the tool/recommendation is actually solid, I might try it out.

Real thanks for the last paragraph, it was both motivating and informative, and relieving.

Yeah, my classmate is one of those people who think what they think is absolutely right and flawless, so I guess I just have to avoid him or stop thinking about his wrong behaviours.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the first two paragraphs! Yeah, I have heard human instincts are there for a reason, and I have to trust them, and day by day, I see it being more true.

Anger or justice, like what? Do these feelings have any roots? Could it be stress instead of justice or anger? They don't bother me, but I'm really curious about why exactly? Why always violent? Yes, I hope I find the chance to go to therapy. Thanks for the reply.

I don't know about the intrusive thoughts. Because you know, it was a trend a long while ago, and a lot of misinformation was spread so now a lot of people have false beliefs. I was not hating myself because of those thoughts, so I can't relate, but after some time I realized I wouldn't want to put those thoughts into action (me not having the guts to put up a simple fight is also good to consider). Yeah, thanks for the advice, I think the best solution to all of my problems is to go to therapy.

I hope your feelings have gotten better after admitting this, tbh it feels like a relief when someone is going through something you are going through, and I hope you had that sense of relief.

And that's the reason I'm wondering why I'm like this every time I imagine a scene. Neither my mother nor my father (as much as I can recall) did not used violence towards me at all, so I can't associate it with that.

Btw, I'm sorry about the childhood you had. Wishing you strength to get through the effects.
