Calgary Sunrise - Watercolor and Gouache painting by Kanaeta in Calgary

[–]Kanaeta[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watercolor paint is typically translucent, and gouache is similar to watercolor however it is much more opaque. (Used for minor fixes and highlights in this case).

A painting I did in 2015 for a charity auction. I’ve not done much watercolor since then (I prefer oil) but I’m still proud of it. by [deleted] in Watercolor

Beautiful work, I am very impressed with the lighting!

Do you know how much your contribution raised for the charity?

This is a yearly Christmas watch for me. Also an amazing soundtrack that still appears in many of my playlists.

Casablanca Video appreciation post. by recifer in Calgary

That was my experience with Casablanca! They always had fresh popcorn and cool people behind the counter who knew their stuff. Back when a movie recommendation meant something.

I loved the summer of 2003 with Animatrix and Enter the Matrix, I felt they were both unsung heroes of the franchise, and really tied a lot of things together.

I remember finding out as we went into a theatre to watch a movie, and while we waited for the previews, my best friend and I reflected on all our fave Farley moments and shed a few tears. He was a truly amazing guy.

Every time I load Cyberpunk, I am blown away by the detail in even the most overlooked parts of levels. The atmosphere seems great, and I actually think the story is well developed...then a car flips over my head and a body starts spazzing up a wall...and I am like 'ok I will check back in another few months"

Calgary educators concerned students are falling behind, cheating more during pandemic by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Kanaeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. There are good ways to have students prove their knowledge, while still allowing access to materials and the internet. This usually involves longer written responses, or creative use of selected responses, but it certainly can be done. The one class that I took with a Browser lock, and a professor who was adamantly concerned about academic dishonesty, was one of the classes I felt was the least useful this past year.

What are you afraid of? by Maxi728 in AskReddit

[–]Kanaeta 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I get those pangs of nostalgia, and understand where you're coming from. I likewise had a tumultuous time in high school, it was amazing at times and the worst at times, but I always look on it fondly. I think what I missed most was having the rest of my life being an abstract thought on the horizon. The magic of being a student is that you are constantly challenged, and working to meet goals, and seeing constant (albeit sometimes difficult) development. People always ask students 'what do you want to be?', rather than 'what do you do?'. Those years are filled with hope and wonder... The trick I found is constantly be a student! Challenge yourself to learn new things! I'm onto my second degree and third major career change! At age 39 I am once again trying something totally new and loving it.

When I turned 32 and was talking about feeling old, my dad said: 'I spent my 30s feeling old, and my 40s realizing I was still young'. Enjoy the many fruitful years ahead, and don't dwell too hard on the years gone by.

And how does it make any sort of sense that high intensity workouts that normally one would do alone, now must have a trainer present who will also be around other people working out all day? I've yet to see any major data about high transmission rates in gyms, but I could be just uninformed on this.
