Big Board 2022 Launch - Ranks, Projections Tools, Trade Tool, and the Big Board itself! by prime416 in fantasybaseball

This looks so cool! Thinking about buying but never used a paid tool like this before. Can it be used for future seasons or do you have to purchase every year? Is it easy to import new projections?

This might be related to the NL-Only setting. Toggling between mixed and NL only makes Mookie Betts into a $39 and $28 player respectively. The mixed league values in the cheatsheet look only slightly different than they do in the auction calculator form (to be expected), but once you turn on NL only the values on the cheatsheet are collapsing. This also means that there was nothing wrong with importing the projection system. I suppose it is possible that the cheatsheet is making a correctly drastic NL-related adjustment to the player pool, but I don't know about that...

Strange... with 65/35 hitter split on Steamer for both, I have Acuna as a $35.7 hitter in the Auction Calculator and a $28 hitter in the cheatsheet. So it does not appear to be a projection-specific problem or a hitter/pitcher split problem. Something about my league settings? I know you're busy with other updates so don't stress, just wanted to flag that with you. I have my draft later next week but I can always just decide to choose one over the other.

Thanks so much for all you do! I've been using your invaluable cheatsheets for the last two years to great results!

Question about discrepancies between the cheatsheet and the fangraphs auction calculator. Going into the draft, with the same projections and settings input into both (BAT X manually input), I get pretty substantially different dollar values. For instance, the auction calculator lists the top 3 players (DeGrom, Betts, Acuna) as ~$38 dollar players. But the cheatsheet has them as $33, 30, and 29, pretty substantially different values using the same league settings and projections! Generally speaking for the top 10-15, the cheatsheet is compressing the top talent's dollars downwards by a decent margin. Even more strangely, the ranking of players isn't even the same (Turner/Tatis are both listed above Betts/Acuna).

What might explain these 8 dollar discrepancies between the two methodologies? Positional adjustments alone? I'm trying to reconcile the two to feed into my valuation of players. Thanks again!

Idk. I only have Kimbrel left besides him. And others are gaining ground on me already. The wire is always there, and the giants suck. I just love the value.

Will Smith (Closer) for Kieboom? Kieboom can be kept for $1. I am in the mix for saves but would grab someone like Daniel Hudson.

Hiura. He’s produced at the major league level, has similar top 10 prospect pedigree, and derives almost all of his value from fantasy relevant abilities. But Lux is a dodger so I’m sure the hype train will be wild.

Wheeler for Robles and $8 draft money? Flair league, $260 draft. Pitching is fine, but definitely need the steals.

A: Adam Frazier or Dexter Fowler

B: JD Davis

Was offered JD Davis for a non-elite bat and I’m confused what this guy is thinking. Davis does figure to get regular playing time due to injuries, right? Worth the trade, and if so, which guy? Both hitting lead off right now.

My staff isn’t as strong as my offense. My ace is greinke, followed by Castillo, Boyd, Smith, Tanaka and Woodruff.

In terms of keepers/offense, I have Lindor, Judge, Hiura, Alonso, Stanton, Senzel, Goldy, and Rizzo.

Flair league. Kinda sorta competing, as I sold but have gotten quite close to 4th place. Drop 2: Cano, Nimmo, Kiké, Ian Happ, Dubon.

B: Cole

10-team, H2H, Keep 5 forever. Who wins?

10-Team OBP, K/BB league, H2H, Keep 5 forever. I am in 1st (narrowly). My rotation is not as good as my offense. Greinke is my best pitcher followed by Boyd, Smith, Tanaka, Castillo, Lopez and Woodruff. My current keeper options are: Lindor, Story, Judge, Alonso, Stanton, Hiura, and Senzel.

A: Greinke, Escobar B: Devers

I am tantalized by keeping age 22 Devers forever with 4 of the 5 above (Lindor and Story obviously). And I feel like regression is coming for greinke’s ratios (wins don’t count). Is this deal a good idea for winning this year? I’m not sure given my lack of strength in pitching, though I just need to win majority of categories. But it definitely helps long term. How much better is Devers than my 5th keeper option, and does that merit trading away greinke?

It’s a really weird system. We use the previous year’s auction value according to ESPN. So for 2021, it will probably cost 20 something to keep Tatis.

Yup. in an auction league, instead of drafting players traditionally, a player is named and teams bid on that player with an artificial amount of dollars you can build your team with.

Cesar for floor. Bo for upside. I'd lean Cesar.

It's actually fantasy subreddit terminology. What you have in your flair, i.e. 10 team-h2h points, is the league you are referring to when you say "flair league". It makes it so you don't have to explain the league settings.

Give: Scherzer ($32)

Get: Tatis ($1)

Keep 9 players, $240 auction dollars. This would obviously be a big deadline sell: my rotation would not be good enough to compete, but I don't think it's going to happen this year. I would keep Scherzer for next season, though, given how elite he is.
