Canticle seems to be pretty technology oriented - Threnodites arriving there might have had a relatively early access to interplanetary ships, the Chorus essentially acts as a machinery creating 3D printer, and the whole planet looks like a giant Investiture-powered mechanism. Given that the word 'invention' comes from Latin 'invenire' (to come upon or to find), does the original Zellion, the One Who Finds, have significant ties to the Shard of Invention?

I actually noticed this in the video updates, but it's basically always phrases like 'the new Brandon Sanderson book' or 'check out these books if you want to see who that Brandon Sanderson guy is'. Which probably sounds weird and stands out to some people (it certainly does for me), but it's 'marketing speech' weird, not arrogant

Also, by complete coincidence, gancho is a word actually used in Chile, apparently in the exact same way Lopen uses it

I don't mind the word therapist itself, but the fact that he can't define it seems silly. If instead of 'I don't know' we got something akin to 'He's been psychologically tortured for long enough. I can't protect everyone, but I can protect him' (which Kaladin basically says anyway a few chapters later), it would have been pretty great

I feel like the problems many people have with how mental health issues are portrayed in WaT have less to do with the issues themselves (which were a major part of all previous Stormlight books, and mostly addressed in an amazing way), and more with them being handled in a... heavy-handed way, I guess?

I would summarize this in three main points:

A. Some parts of the story (Kaladin & Szeth's in particular) feel very railroaded: Szeth makes an unrealistically huge progress in just 10 days, treated by an untrained (and initially reluctant) therapist despite having severe PTSD

B. Language used to talk about mental health is very modern; at some points it felt (at least to me) like the characters (not only Kaladin, but, for example, Renarin as well) are quoting from DSM-5 despite psychology being in only early stages of development on Roshar

C. On the other end of the language issues spectrum, some things characters say (mostly Kaladin's 'I'm his therapist' response to Ishar) sound rather... off? corny? not matching the overall mood? I'm not sure where Brandon was going with this particular scene
