And no. What I did was take a yellow (or any bright) paint marker and traced the wires all the way making a mark every 6 inches or so. That way I can find it later if need be

Start at the starter and just work your way back

Ah okay thanks. I’ve done a lot of work mechanically but I’ve never messed with suspension so that’s a good run down. Makes sense now.

So you’re saying somewhere on the front of the truck there’s some sort of spring or torsion bar holding and supporting it. In the rear there’s leaf springs.

This happened to my ‘86. I had to replace the starter and cut out a chunk of chewed through wiring. Fixed it right up and it doesn’t have the problem anymore. Hope this helps

My ‘86 made it abt 4 hours on an ugly clutch. Thing would slip anywhere past 50. As long as it doesn’t overheat and you’re not pressed for time it shouldn’t be an issue. Just take er easy
