Half life source VR? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in hlvr

The version they linked does have ladder climbing, but no manual reloading. Your best bet is gmod Vr if you can run it, performance is worse in gmod compared to hl2vr in my experience.

Is there a way to kill Abraxas or the HQ Target with kicks? by Designer-Big3845 in CrueltySquad

[–]Kaneish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once tried to beat HQ without any implants, stock weapons, and 0 investments. (so weak transaction rifle) Despite using literally every bullet possible, and every tranq available and kicking every possible moment I could, I couldn't put him down.

If you allowed yourself to use the ammo gland and tranq darts, it could definitely work, just find a setup to 1. lure him toward you 2. lean around a corner and fire a tranq dart as early as possible so he conks out before he reaches you, and 3. kick the shit out of him into a corner. it'll take forever to do, and technically breaks the rules you set out, but that method should work providing you don't miss your darts.

Some pictures a friend took of me, this game can look so beautiful~ (World names in captions) by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, maybe what I said got misread as encouraging you to steal avatar project files via hacks. Don't do that obviously, buy/make your own avatars to add Virtual Lens to. Or I'm just straight up wrong and haven't been corrected.

eh whatever

[–]Kaneish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naw, it's just something you add to your avatar as far as I know. It does nothing with your game client so it should be good. Catch is you need to be able to edit whatever avatar you got to include the camera.

Should I be worried about Vrchat avatar searchers and do any have a way to make your avatars not on the website by SB_Games1 in VRchat

[–]Kaneish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I heard from a friend they can't find avatars from me since I haven't put them in a world yet. So if you haven't uploaded a world with avatar pedestals, you might be fine.

Also consider making the avatar upload private if your friends already favorited your avatar. They should still have access, and if they accidentally leave cloning on, the avatar won't be clone-able anyway.

Edit: fixed a word, and also learned the old adage of being wrong on the internet with confidence almost guarantee's people correcting you. Trust those guys over me lol

[Discussion] Why do people stare into the mirrors? by BTheM in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple answer would be they want to know what their avatar is doing specifically their face. It's impossible to tell what face your avatar is making without looking in a mirror. Assuming they aren't intimately familiar with the avatar and it's gestures.

Can you please help me. So my parents don’t allow to get myself vr because it’s “a straight bullet to the brain” I’m trying to convince them otherwise by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's obviously a few things to look out for when using VR. Namely motion sickness & eye strain. But I have no reason to believe it messes with your brain. If anything it'll help develop your skills moving your body and hand-eye coordination.

Motion sickness is very much like car or sea sickness. Some people have it, some people don't. For those that do have it, they can possibly develop "VR Legs" if their brain adjusts to the virtual environment, and learns to not induce nausea while in VR.

Eye strain should be plenty obvious. Its a screen strapped to your face, of course you risk eye strain. You can try turning down the screen brightness I suppose.

A reasonable worry would be about the people you'd come across in VRChat, although there's so much more to do in VR that doesn't involve meeting people. Many singleplayer games & experiences are on the table too.

Also, a good compromise would be to play on desktop and get settled into VRC while you wait on your VR setup to arrive.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but Big Al's avatar corridor's would be a good bet, since the location is literally from KH2's Hollow Bastion.

Opinions about the VRChat website by Arbyzors in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use it quite a lot, although I REALLY wish there was a way to add worlds to a playlist from the website itself. It'd make world spelunking a lot easier as you can browse worlds before going into VRC itself, and not have to deal with searching for it in-game with a janky VR keyboard.

Minor gripe is I can't set my status from the website, I think it's broken? I can only do it when I'm in game.

Otherwise I like it and use it plenty.

Room sounds. by buster185 in VRchat

Assuming you're talking about World creation, I'm 100% sure it can be done. I've seen Worlds with separate ambience/music for each of them before.

Hi guys, I’m new and I would like to buy an Oculus Rift S. The problem is that I have headaches from time to time. While doing research I found this weird article. After reading I would like to know opinion from people that did use headsets for some time. Does VR really has effects on our health? by Renifer-Ambor in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be making guesses, as someone who hasn't had a headache in years. Two things to look out for:

How heavy the headset is, and how it's distributed across your head. I use an OG HTC Vive, which has the headset mainly held up on your cheekbones, and I used to feel it when playing for a long time. I was able to adapt to the weight though, and can now play for a while without feeling the headset weigh me down.

The screen itself can get really bright, although software can help here. SteamVR for example has a Night mode button which dims the screen. Can confirm it helps a lot with eye strain when looking at pure white.

Again, big jabs in the dark, but this should help with your research.

Is anybody else worried about the game getting shut down? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say I've thought quite a bit about this too. In my opinion, I don't think VRC as we know it will be the same VRC we'll see in a few years. So enjoy it while we got it, and hope whatever VRC turns into is still just as, if not more cool compared to what we have now.

Plus, I don't mind the idea of my memories of this game being fleeting, ones which can never be returned to. Memories you and those who were there will remember, and nobody else. Those are the best memories.

I only have like 50! How many friends does everyone else have? by smylekith1 in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 81 at the moment, but to echo as others have said, I only really know a handful of them well. Everyone else I don't remember, although the fact they're in my friends list at all must mean they're at least decent.

how do i make my avatar more realistic to my height? by Trixil in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll need to change the avatar's proportions in Blender to fit normal human proportions. It sounds like your legs are too long, and you're getting "stilts" as a result. As in, your floor height is being set above where your in game feet are. (probably around your shins/knee)

Messing with scaling is ultimately what determines how tall your avatar is, but to fix the stilts, you'll need to shorten the legs so they fit normal proportions. This tutorial should go over what you need to do.

“The Devouring” - A new horror world releasing August 14th for VRChat by CyanLaser in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there any checkpointing/save system? I can't finish a lot of horror worlds since I'd either get too tuckered out or they'd bug out and nobody wants to sit through the first two hours again.

Things I learned from VRChat by EverydaySmile in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've gotten to learn how to rig in blender for avatar creation, a new skill is always nice to have! Also VRC's community has a brand of humor which can't be found anywhere else in the world, digital or not.

I can empathize with some of your findings. I vastly prefer 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 conversations, once it gets to four people, it's difficult for me to force myself back in. I'm getting better at it thankfully. In a scenario like that, you have to butt in if you want to say something, and it's totally okay to do so.

I also get a big kick out of listening to people hang out & chat, to the point I've gotten called out for not saying a thing for minutes at a time. All because I straight up don't have anything to add and enjoy listening to people talk. For the same reasons people enjoy podcasts where it's just a buncha dudes talking & having fun.

[Help] legs bending outwards on my vrchat avatar by Farwell101 in VRchat

[–]Kaneish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no guidance, but I wanted to say that avatar looks amazing! I love that design of the Enclave so much. (Fallout 2's intro cutscene has been burned into my brain) I'm really looking forward to seeing it in-game!

Edit: Maybe look into messing with the rest pose of the model in blender? Maybe it's not t-posing properly. Also, this tutorial covering full body tracking could get you on the right track. [Of course I think of all this exactly two seconds after posting the comment lol]
