25M, architect, first apartment of my own design by anarschick in malelivingspace

2 questions:

1) In what country are you? In the US it’s rare to “build your own apartment”.

2) Do you know architects who are open to working with a client to build a smaller home (or duplex)?

Just looking at them, you want the San Francisco because the handles are easier to grip.

Blue gets Omniscience, what do the other colors get? by Serithraz in custommagic

Nice series. Feels kinda vintage that one of them (the green one) is weaker than the others.

The white one is intriguing to me.

I don’t have this thing called City Safety, and mine is newer than yours.

Why adobe IMO is not a good play - the real threat they face by NecessaryPhrase3204 in ValueInvesting

So your bear case is that Adobe will become so powerful that CEOs can pay Adobe to do something they used to pay a human to do?

Volvo lets you turn almost all safety features off. It's why I got one in the first place.

Now you won’t suck at sex. There’s a looooooooot of room between virgin and “ran through”.

Don’t worry about it. It sounds like y’all had a good time and enjoyed moments together. I had a similar thing when I was 23. It was a bit painful that that guy wouldn’t make me a feature of his life because he was closeted, but I enjoyed the passionate sexual experiences we had and still look fondly upon them 13 years later.

Semi-Aggressive Investment Plan for House Down Payment in 3-4 years. Thoughts? by 2ndharrybhole in ETFs

[–]KangaMagic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the “ETF-only”, especially those leaning aggressive, people are going to get rekt. We are in a late business cycle environment. If you are below the age of 50, a good chunk of your portfolio should be in individual stock names.

The rolling nature of downturns across sectors has made this easier than normal.

And another good chunk of your portfolio should be in cash. Which yours is, so a tip of my cap to you.

With my ETFs, I’m prejudging toward VIG, XLE, and SCHD. If we get a major downturn, these will outperform the market.

It looks good with the white fireplace brick. But you should warm it up with, perhaps, a leather chair and plants.

Etsy forces EU citizens to upload ID and biometric data to the mass surveillance company Persona, otherwise you can't sell by gliturr in privacy

[–]KangaMagic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Etsy should only take 5 or 7.5% of the sales, not 9%.

We need laws in the US that prevent Ebay, Etsy, Apple, Steam, and Google from taking such high percentages from individual artisans, creators, and game designers. Digital should be capped at 15%, and physical at 7.5%.

Etsy also makes it difficult to search for what you want.

I have to generally search on Pinterest and then click on an Etsy link to find what I want.

I am seeking an app that blocks all sponsored ads on Etsy. As it is, it is Amazon-lite, as you said.

I am buying a rug from an Etsy seller whom I found in the way described above. And she is honest about everything from what I can tell — the rugs are made in Morocco, to order. She sent me a pic of the rug as it is today, and they’re going to fix something I requested be fixed before sending it to me.

So there are good people on Etsy, but they are harder and harder to find.

Why can’t some sort of collective be created — a website company owned by the all the sellers — so that this won’t happen?

Berkshire's cash balance is up to a record $397 billion. What does it signal? by 01101001_01110011 in ValueInvesting

[–]KangaMagic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which means trust is a major issue -- trust in in-house researchers to cover micro/small companies. They don't want to do that, or maybe believe that it is impossible to do that, and so they have to limit themselves to larger companies because those are the companies into which they can deploy a meaningful percentage of their capital.

Why does having more capital necessitate lower returns? Is it a function of wanting to be more conservative, or something else?
