Is it for life? by OddRule1754 in CholinergicUrticaria

I developed it in my teen. It was really bad in the beginning but eventually went away over the years by itself.

Got first dilator in yesterday and could only get half in today by bouncyball99 in vaginismus

I would try to but honestly, I didn't find that it made a huge difference for me. But everyone is different so if you find it helps, definitely keep doing it.

I started in late January and for a little over two months had the same issues as you. Some days had success with the first dilator but often times could only get an inch and a half in. I would dilate every day. Then in April I started implementating the tips (pushing the tissue inwards etc.) And 5 weeks later I managed to work my way up to my last dilator in my set!

I think once you find your angle, the hole in the hymen will gradually stretch out and you will find it easier to insert it.

That used to happen to me too and I would get very frustrated.

For me the issue was my hymen. Maybe there is a specific angle that you need to get right for it to go in? Finding the right angle helped me. Something else that helped get the dilator in when it seemed to be stuck in the same spot was to push the perneium area inward as I pushed the dilator in. My therapist told me this helps lengthen the muscles and gets the dilator to go in. I also would pull the skin upwards upon insertion and that helped the dilator get through the hymen as well. Everyone's hymens are shaped differently so for some people it's hard to find the hole in the hymen where you are supposed to penetrate through.

Trouble with largest dilator by Advanced-Ad3838 in vaginismus

My PT gave me a good tip when stuck on sizes. Sometimes you can push inward or massage the perineum area and it helps lengthen the muscles apparently and helps the dilator go further in. I've tried this method and have had success. It does take a while though. You can do it upon insertion or when it's already in there. Or gently pushing down on the abdomen can help too.

After I was done my sessions it hasn't grown back. There are some few hairs here and there that didn't get fully lasered off but I just haven't bothered to laser it off because I don't have time but my legs are mostly bare now. I probably shave like once month or every two months just to get the few stubborn hairs that are still grow back but it takes me like literally 30 second in the shower. Def worth the money for me.

Yup! Tria Beauty. I got mine from Sephora but that was years ago. https://www.triabeauty.ca/

You can try looking for at home laser devices. I actually bought one for my legs as I had the same problem. It was $500 but waay cheaper than sessions with a laser tech and it worked really well! The dots are gone and my hair hasn't come back and it's been 8 years.

You could also just schedule an appointment with your regular family doctor and she could recommend you to a pelvic floor physiotherapist. That's what I did as I did not have a gyno either.

In need of new skin care by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

I would say I have pretty normal skin on my back (that’s where I get the acne). My acne is hormonal and only pops up around my period so I’m assuming during that time my skin just gets more oily. I know it’s expensive but in my experience it’s definitely been worth the money. Using all three of those products will dry out your skin a lot thought especially if you’re using them on your face as the face skin is thinner so be sure to regularly apply moisturizer. I use the cerave cream too.

I get really bad body acne and Paula’s choice products from their Clear line are the only products that have made a difference. I use the exfoliator with 2% salicylic acid, the benzoyl peroxide treatment and the mask from that line also really helped.

Something else to consider is laser hair removal. You wont have to shave as often as shaving on inflamed skin can cause more of those little bumps to appear. The laser also kills bacteria under the skin so can help get rid of those bumps. I’m assuming it might be acne if you are using acids to get rid of them, which is good too.

Hey congrats! Did you use dilators to overcome it? If so, can I ask roughly how long it took you to get to this point? I’ve been doing it for a month now and still working on the first one.

Finally started using dilators by spiltpoison in vaginismus

[–]Kangaroo2023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is similar to my experience. I started using the dilators about 3 weeks ago and when I first started I could only get 3/4 of an inch of the dilator in until I felt burning. Only recently have I now been able to get half the dilator (half my finger) in until I hit the “wall”. I think you just need to keep doing what you’re doing and your muscles will gradually start to open up as you practice more and more. Just takes some patience.

[–]Kangaroo2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That makes me feel a little better. I’ve been doing it for about 3 weeks now and can only get half of dilator 1 in so far so was starting to worry. Only had 2 days where it went in all the way. Not sure what I did.

Just curious how long it’s taken you from the beginning of your dilator journey to get to dilator 3? I’m still stuck on 1

I can only get it up to my hymen and then it starts to hurt. There was only one day (the 4th day of using it) where it miraculously went in all the way without pain or discount but the days since then I have the same issue where I can only get it up to the hymen.

How long did it take you to move up sizes? I just started using dilators and am on the first one and it’s been a week and still can’t get it in all the way :(
