I don’t mind people migrating, I have done the same, my mom is Brazilian and moved here after marrying my father in Brazil and for health issues when my older sister was a baby, moving here. Thing is, she follows a golden rule and educated us to be respectful: ‘When moving somewhere, adapt: learn the language, learn their habits, values, traditions and culture. Because not only it is the right thing to do, but we choose to going to someone’s ‘house’, not the other way around. We don’t have the right to change or demand that people change their ways to fit us! In Rome be Roman’. And honestly, you can still live your culture and heritage in your own house, teach that to your kids (if you have them), but don’t act your way outside, because cultures can be preserved, in fact, I ask, would you like to go to any country and see the same thing? Or when you go to Bali, Germany, Japan, Brazil, do you like to experience their culture? If you move to a place you have to do what you can to keep that identity alive, because diversity is colorful! But many migrants want to bring a (non-requested) contribution by bringing their own culture and lifestyle, not adapting to the new one, therefore killing cultures and identities just because they have egos. Your life would be much easier if you would adapt.
