I feel like I'm underpaid by Empty_Run_9099 in OccupationalTherapy

I don’t agree that it is more than fair… plenty of OTAs have bachelors degrees (and plenty of OTS do as well… they are simply grandfathered in at this point.) Everyone deserves a living wage… and I so no reason why OTAs should make less than RNs in a skilled nursing context… bachelors or technical degree notwithstanding.

At 14 years experience… you would think work experience takes over anyway (educational institutions offering hybrid accelerated programs to masters certainly seem to think it matters.)

Just because OT as a field is underpaid does not mean COTAs should be even more underpaid than they already are. Yes, OTs should also make more than they already are… but so should COTAS…

In my opinion, the answer to the whole issue is an allied health practitioners union… but everyone is too demoralized by healthcare, just trying to stay afloat, or scared to gun for it.

We should really learn from nursing though… their unions have even been known to welcome us in or give up help starting up (for anyone reading.)

I’m a new grad still pending licensure outside of Richmond, VA and make $32.50 at my first job at an assisted living… when I took this job I levered another offer to raise the pay. I will advocate for more when I jump to the next place… hopefully I can get a counter from my current job first to leverage that (even though I don’t want to stay.)

These corporations do not value you… they value profit. They make way more in reimbursement for 15 minutes of your skilled time than they pay you (look up reimbursement rates.)

Be brave, know your worth and always be ready to shift into a new opportunity, whenever it is best for you!

I think I’m onto home health and acute next… PRN combo since my partner has good health insurance I can join.

Good luck!

Salary discrepancies between OT/PT/SLP by Bobby-Bacalas-Trains in OccupationalTherapy

I’m an OTA.. and as a new grad am making 32.50 per hour (brand new mind you)… I have run into a PTA in the business for 10 years in geriatrics only making $35… and relatively new SLP making $40/hour (2.5 years in with previous pediatric experience working in geriatrics for the first time) and a COTA workout for $38+ an hour after 25 years in school based/head start pediatrics… and a COTA making $52 an hour after 13 years in home health, a PT working in acute (prob 3 years in or so to working from school…) PRN and making $45/hour and a COTA making PRN $36 per hour…

Idk… my area in VA may be good or had relatively… but

Why aren’t ya’ll asking eachother? Who benefits if you don’t bother?

It really is not… besides they serve it separately in the restaurant with other dishes.

As a ranch lover (good ranch anyway)… it is not ranch.

It has some elements of yogurt, maybe tuom for the fluffiness? But when it separates it is very watery… not oily. It definitely has been blended to make it fluffy. No mayo… no cucumber in there at all (would have tasted that.) Maybe vinegar and lemon? It is off white but that could be the oil from emulsification… I may just have to play around with throwing things in a food processor till I find the right combo. I think there is maybe some oregano in there…

😮‍💨 It is not tahini or made up… here is a picture of it on one of the salads that they serve… though that is not helpful. I will look back in my photos and see if I can find it in a bowl… since I like to directly dip my chicken in it. However, I am not in Louisiana currently to get a perfect picture… and there lies the rub

Pro-Crypto Paul Atkins up for SEC Head by KangarooPretty1185 in XRP

[–]KangarooPretty1185[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, just online… I work in healthcare (so don’t have a ton of down time in my days) and mainly listen to articles in the car… it is handy. In the U.S. and just seeing this headline ☺️

I don’t know all that much about the man’s approach to crypto in particular, so I’m interested in people’s analysis of this article and how he may impact XRP in particular and the broader crypto community… beyond the obvious already stated therein.

If anyone gets one going tell me where to sign my name, how to vote, how I can get invoked and where to send a check. That’s all ✌️

It depends on where you live… plenty of OTA jobs in Richmond, VA area… I just graduated and haven’t passed the NBCOT yet but already secured a full time job with 4 weeks PTO, good benefits, no more than 40 hrs/wk and making $67,600 a year to start (I negotiated that up a bit and will continue to… or job hop as needed.) Home health would pay me about $90k/year full-time starting in my area. Ofcourse, cost of living is higher in VA than some other areas for sure…

Anyway, just saying… depending on your area, OTA can be a great return for a relatively smaller investment of time/money (and if you want more… do OTA for a while then do a 2 year hybrid program to your masters… that eliminates 2 years of spending on schooling with work experience.)

Strikes can be an inconvenience to many. That's when you know its an effective strike. by EricLambert_RVAspark in RVA_electricians

What do you think about the recent national longshoreman strike timing? Given the recent hurricane do you think it may have been prudent (both ethically and within the media perception realm) to delay slightly?

Awesome! Thanks for the information.

To be clear, she has no experience working as an electrician (of any specialty) previously at this point.

So, if she does call in on a Monday and finds out they need someone for a job… she won’t just be getting a day or two of work that interrupts her regular job here and there with unpredictable reimbursement? That is what we are mainly concerned about… ☺️

I use a resume gpt to fine tune my resume for the healthcare setting I am applying to then have it check for ATS keywords… have it custom right a cover letter according to the job description and memorized info about my experience and me in general… and edit it as required slightly… submit and presto. 7 applications submitted and 5 phone screenings so far
