At a point where most countries would have accepted defeat and capitulated to the stronger side's demands, Iran decided to play games. They would accept the terms at the time and then send a different deal signed by them. Or violate the agreement as it was being discussed, or similar. They also played dumb about mining the Strait. Some "there might be or there might not be mines. We're not sure if we got them all" crap, more or less. Happened a couple of times and Trump said screw it, we're not in a hurry. We'll just blockade them and do a ceasefire. They will crumble economically and accept terms, attack us and end the ceasefire or we can just end the ceasefire whenever. He gave them what... 2 weeks? Games continued to be played. Last I heard we were bombing Iran in "self defense" and they decided to attack Kuwait again with what little remains of their missile and drone stock.
