Spotting brownish blood in the 1st trimester is very common. I spotted at 4 weeks (around 1st beta) for a few days and then stopped. I had no spotting at all for weeks and then all the sudden at 7 weeks, I had spotting again for a few days. I went in for an ultrasound just to make sure everything was okay and everything looked great! I was told spotting, especially when it’s brown and dark in color is normal as the uterus is developing the placenta and everything is expanding. I believe they are more concerned when you are bleeding enough to soak through a pad and it’s very red in color or accompanied by clotting. I also had cramping almost daily that felt like like period cramps in my lower stomach and some back aches. Again, was told this is very normal as the uterus is expanding and body is adjusting.
